Drove out here from NorBay to enjoy a brewery we had never been to. On arrival, it definitely looked like some sort of private party. There were registration tables out front and a very large presence of people. I approached and asked about the goings on. I was told: "[Yes, it was a private party for the GSW (Golden State Warriors) season ticket holders. It would open to the public at 5pm. Please come back after 5pm.]"
Perfect, enough time to go and scope out some other places in the area and wouldn't be such a wasted trip.
It is notable: There were no signs outside or other communications anywhere, stating there was a private party. Nothing noted on their website landing page. Nothing noted on their private evens page. NOTHING I could find eluded to the fact it was closed to the public at any point, beside the GSW reps at the tables out front.
Went back at 5:30, no registration tables out front, no party. Crowds significantly diminished. Tons of empty tables both in and out. Still no signs or flyers anywhere stating it was closed to the public.
Went in. Sat down. No service after 15 minutes. Went to the bar to order. Was asked for a wristband. Obviously we didn't have one. Was told "closed to the public" and GSW did not want the public there that day, at all. "This day is not for people that don't support the team with the purchase of season tickets."
WOW! Shame on Almanac for being so rude, and a severe lack of customer service and empathy. Really? So many empty tables and we were more than willing to pay for whatever we ordered. Shame on GSW for apparently not having well informed reps at the front registration tables and making Almanac limit their impact on the community. Almanac put the entire blame on them and is where the information above came from.
Obviously, that tarnished the venture, and we will not be headed back this...
Read moreThis place has so much potential. I'm giving it a preliminary 3-stars, but would love to come back sometime soon to hopefully adjust/raise that rating.
The brewery itself is kind of out in the middle of nowhere, although conveniently next to an Air Space museum (also in the middle of nowhere). Parking was very easy, there are dirt lots right across the street that everyone seems to park in without any fuss.
The beer is great - the most important part. They had quite a few listed up on their board that were labeled as "sold out" or "coming soon", so it seemed like there were more options than there actually were.
The issue we had was with the food truck(s) there. They offer some great food options (when we went, it was the local Scolari's Good Eats truck). However, the wait time is absolutely ridiculous. We waited in the scorching sun today for 30 min and the line didn't move AT ALL. We literally gave up, went inside to have a beer, then just ordered ahead at the other actual Scolari's location for pick-up.
Maybe today was just a bad day because of the holiday, but something tells me this could be a rather common issue there. It turns out you're allowed to bring your own food, so we'll absolutely do that next time. Otherwise, the seating was plentiful and the staff...
Read moreLovely space, but horrendous staff (Friday, 7/22, 8pm)! Highly doubt I'll ever visit again, recommend them, or buy their beers. Last week was my bday, and my 70 yr old neighbor wanted to treat me. He gave me a $100 bill, and I held it at the bar while looking at the menu. 1st - two other patrons came to the bar after me, but they were attended to before me. I didn't care much and patiently waited, while most of the staff shared a beer in small tulip glasses on the left side of the bar. 2nd - So when the bartender came to me, I asked for a few small pours for my friend and me. Initially, she said that they don't do small pours, but because they are not busy she will oblige. I asked for 2 of the DIPA and 2 of another IPA. At this instance, I was told that I can get only 3 for myself. So I asked if it's possible to do 2 for me, and 2 for my friend. The response kinda shook me! The staff told me that I'm "really bothering" her, so I changed my order to just 2 regular pours. When I came outside my friend was appalled and said that we should just return the beers and leave. I didn't want to waste good beers, so I gulped down mine, and headed out, quite disappointed at the...
