Amore Pizza — Restaurant in Alaska

It has been so long (maybe six to twelve months) since I ordered from Amore's that I forgot how bad their pizza was. It wasn't the worst pizza I have ever had and I put an extra star because delivery was fast and it didn't really taste bad. Also, the toppings seem of good quality. But first, they mixed up the toppings today, which isn't the end of the world, just annoying and I think the representative couldn't hear me that well. But what killed it for me and I immediately remember distinctly the same problem the last order, is the dough, it was just not right. It was cooked well, the bottom was golden brown maybe even a little dark, which is fine, but the center was so thin and kind of soggy, it lacked any rigidity and the crust is chewy like pizza jerky. It just was not something they should serve. I would venture a guess that the dough is not proofed right or old, I just cannot tell. Although, I have worked at a few pizza places, I am no dough expert, but this dough is anything but amore. So I never order again this was saved under...

The person who answered the phone seemed liked he was rushing me off the phone. I had to ask what the total on my order was. He didn't give me an estimated delivery time. Then when I got the pizzas, one looked thrown together and the other one was slightly burnt. And the guy that wrote the review stating "the bottom was golden brown maybe even a little dark, which is fine, but the center was so thin and kind of soggy, it lacked any rigidity and the crust is chewy like pizza jerky." described this pizza perfectly. Probably one of the only legit reviews. I think the people who wrote that this pizza is the best they've had or that it's some of the best pizza in Anchorage are either friends/family of people who own or work for the restaurant or trolls. The only good thing about this experience was that they delivered quickly....

Writing this as we're eating it because I couldn't wait to praise this enough! Wanted to try a new local pizza place for my husband's birthday because we're constantly disappointed by chain pizza places. Amore did not disappoint!!! The topping ratio is perfect, the wings are tender and fall off the bone, the jalapeno bites are crispy and perfect amount of spicey. Everything is so fresh and the gentleman who was working was very sweet, opened the door for me since my hands were full.

10/10 will be our go-to pizza place...
