We came here for my sons 7th birthday since it is similar to Chuck E Cheese but better food....Horrible decision. We should have just choked down the mouse houses' cardboard pizza than waste our time here at Dave and Busters Anchorage. I called around 2 in the afternoon and I was surprised how quickly they answered the phone. (This would end up being the ONLY quick service we had during our experience.) I explained that we were coming in for a birthday party and had a large group of about 13 people and asked if I could make reservations. She said they do not take reservations and that it was open seating. Have a nice day. So we planned to meet our party there at 6pm, and perhaps this is where we went wrong. My parents arrived before us and were put on a waiting list where they text you when they are ready for you. The hostess explained to them that it was likely going to be a 45 minute wait, which we were fine with. We understand that we are a pretty large group to just show up. (After "checking in" to the waiting list we found out that you can go online and get put on the waiting list before arrival. THIS would have be great information for the receptionist to mention when I had called...) So we waited awkwardly at bar tables for the 45 minutes...50...after an hour my dad went and spoke with the hostess, which resulted in speaking with the manager. She explained that they had another party show up that was supposed to be 10 and had turned to 20 and that people were not leaving as quickly as they hoped. She asked if we would mind taking two booths so we could get seated, which we were fine with. Again, we understand we are a large group. So they seat us in the back corner two booths and scramble for two chairs and a highchair, which took another 20 minutes. A sweet little waitress came and got drink orders and my dad explained that both booths were part of the same party. She made her rounds for drink orders and left. At this time, the last two members of our party showed up. Another 20 minutes and she comes back with booth one drinks and turns to walk away again. My dad asked if they could get the nachos appetizer in which she agreed and turned to walked away again, not bothering to ask if anybody else wanted anything. She noticed our two extra people and took their drink orders and left. Another 20 minutes and a different waitress brought the new guests' drinks and walked away without a word. Meanwhile booth two has not gotten our drinks let alone any acknowledgment from the staff other than getting our drink order. At this point we had been here for TWO HOURS and only received half of our drinks that we had ordered. One of the five drinks that table two ordered eventually showed up with the appetizer my dad ordered in the same manor as the other drinks; by a different server that dropped it off at the table and practically ran away. By this time, the kids are restless and everybody is starving. A cup got spilled on booth two and we tried to clean it up but the fancy fabric napkins just pushed the water around and made it worse. I ended up using a spit rag from my diaper bag to absorb the mess. The water sat on the table for a good 15 minutes while we were ignored in the corner until my cousin went and spoke to the manager again. This prompted the waitress to reappear, and she started to mention something about her manager talking to her when my aunt interrupted her and asked for something to clean up the (obvious) mess all over the table. She quickly went to find something. After another spill we were done. OVER THREE HOURS LATER we got up and left. We tried to be patient as we know we were a fairly large group and they were busy, but this was just absolutely a horrible experience. Its not their fault that our kids spilled drinks that added to the chaos, but we shouldn't have been shunned in the corner and forgotten about. 13 people... that's a lot of missed of food, drink, and game revenue. None of our group will be returning any time soon. Moral of the story: Don't let them waste your time too if your a...
Read moreWe've been to D&Bs three times since its opened, and have yet to have good service or even decent service. We went in today to celebrate my mom's birthday and were welcomed by the waitress. It seemed like things were ok...I was pretty worried since we'd had bad experiences in the past like forgetting to bring a meal, cold food, and being forgotten completely. The waitress was kind and took our drink order. She came back with two flat drinks and when I let her know she said something like, "yea the bartender said that," which made me wonder then why did you bring them out. Then she took our order and we ordered two appetizers and our meals. We waited quite a while and by now I knew, here we go again. I ask the waitress if our appetizers were coming and she said that they'll come with the meal (which of course defeats the purpose of appetizers). Then, she brings our meals out and of course we're missing several things including a meal. I had a pretty good feeling this would happen because when we were ordering I really got the sense that she was hearing me, but she definitely was not listening! When we asked for the missing meal she made several excuses instead of just coming out and saying she forgot. Eventually, we cancelled the order since it never came out. Our meals were cold. It seemed like the appetizers had been sitting out for a while and lacked flavor. When it came time to pay, the waitress pretty much disappeared. We walked around the restaurant looking for her to pay our tab and never did find her. We went to the front desk to pay and they "called her", but she never came out. We ended up paying with a different waitress, but I'm sure at this point if we'd walked out without paying the bill no one would have noticed...and that's just not what we do. Anyways, what was suppose to be a fun birthday day dinner with family turned out to be pure disappointment. We ended up in the game room and would you believe the waitress was there with her waitress friend and upon seeing us she and her friend started giggling...shame on me for thinking she was kind initially. To sum it up food was cold, service was bad, and we won't be returning any time...
Read moreWe had a birthday party for my 2 daughters this past Saturday and I have to say that I was extremely impressed. We were in a private room with one other party, which was fantastic for the parents who did not want to be around the loud noise of the game room. We also had a huge TV that we got to choose to watch whatever we wanted, which was a nice perk. As soon as we arrived, we were shown to our room that was nicely decorated and had a sign wishing my daughters happy birthday. The event organizer/party planner greeted us immediately and stated that he would be here for whatever we needed. He asked what time we wanted the food and I told him as soon as possible, and within 20 minutes the food arrived. We also were allowed 3 soda towers with unlimited refills for everyone at the party. Throughout the event I asked our personal server to bring more food, drinks, a knife for the cake, etc and she was prompt and extremely helpful. Our party even ran 15 minutes longer than our two hour limit, and we never felt rushed. The party was for 12 kids, plus two birthday girls, and all members of the party had $20 of game play, and the birthday girls had $30 plus unlimited play on all of the non ticket games. All in all, the total came to $380, which included an adult platter as well. Though this is spendy, I felt it was comparable to everywhere else we have had a party in town (chuck e cheese, h2oasis, ice skating rink, etc) and I felt we got great service and the kids were fully entertained for 2 hours. I would highly recommend Dave & Busters as a birthday/party venue.
Quick tip- the platters for the kids are huge, and the Mac & Cheese platter was barely touched. I would recommend the mini cheeseburgers and the chicken strips. The adult all American platter was a great...
