I don't write reviews and especially bad reviews. But my experience with House of Bread in Anchorage today has left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I ordered through Door Dash a veggie sandwich, soup and a loaf of cinnamon raisin swirl bread. It was delivered timely by the Door Dash Driver. This is what House of Bread thinks is superior food and service: My loaf of Bread was MISSING My veggie sandwich which was supposed to not have lettuce and have cucumber was wrong and it was DISGUSTING. I took a few pics before throwing it away. (it was for my son and I would never let him eat something that looked like GARBAGE) Please see the pics. The lettuce (which they were supposed to withhold to begin with, was brown. The avocado was totally black and uneatable. It looked like someone took these items from the trash and made a sandwich with it. The bread was stale to the touch. I called House of Bread and they had 0 hospitality regarding this order - they didn't care at all. They told to talk to Door Dash to get a refund. (and this was after the phone person spoke to the manager) No caring about the horrible sandwich or the missing bread. No offer of trying to do better next time. This place has been going downhill for months but I wanted to give it another try. So sad that they are now subpar. I will now give my business to Great Harvest. The most disturbing part of this is that they owners of House of Bread will not even care about this review or about what others are saying about their...
Read moreUgh, I really want to like it but it's just another lackluster Anchorage eatery with a dingy atmosphere and poor service. Ordered half veggie sandwich and salad combo. Being the only person in there it felt like the order took way too long to come out. Bread was good, sandwich ingredients...decent but they put mayo on instead of cream cheese spread which is kinda gross when you're not expecting it. Salad looked great and fresh, loads of home made croutons but the pumpernickel ones could have broken my molar. I tried 3, each harder than the next and some I couldn't even chew. Vinaigrette was far too sweet and gooey. Tables and floor were dirty enough to think that they didn't even clean the night before. Went to wash my hands on the way out and surprise, no paper towels in the bathroom. Makes you irritated that you decided to tip at the register before even getting the lousy service...
Read moreI don’t see ever coming back. We (3 of us) walked in to this small establishment. No greeting. Sounded friendly toward the customer being checked out. We made our selection within 2-3 minutes. Went to the counter…stood there …stood there…stood there. We could see the people behind the half wall. They looked up no expression no hello no someone will be right with you. I’m about 15 feet from them. We stood there…stood there…stood there…We left our items and walked out. My friend went back and politely (she has a very soft voice) asked if it was standard practice not to greet customers who came into the bakery of a 3rd young lady who had come out to sweep, was chagrined and asked had we not been greeted. But it was too late. Customer service is everything especially to a local business. We never had the opportunity to give a review of...
