Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Albany

I have come here a lot for the cotton candy gelati and it is usually good. I only had 1 problem with it in the past, and that was with the custard on top. That particular day it was a very small amount given and when asked about it, was told that the owner informed them they could not give a lot of ice cream. However have bought it after and amount of custard on top has been good.

Recently though, I’ve been trying to get someone to try Rita’s and the two times they had tried it, the presentation was awful. The first time, the person ordered the milkshake without a cherry. It took forever for someone to take our order (a couple came and left) and to get the order even though it was not anyone else waiting. Finally when the order was ready the milkshake looked ridiculous like it had been made a while ago. The whip cream was melting/falling, and it had red juice. So we asked was a cherry put in there and taken out, then the employee said no the cherry was in there but it had slid down and pointed to the cherry (mind you no cherry was suppose to be in there). So the milkshake was returned.

Fast forward tonight, like I said the gelati are usually always good, and someone tried mine and liked the ice cream. So they decided they wanted a custard. Ordered the custard (a large) and it was very small, did not even fill the cup. I showed a picture of another large custard and asked basically why isn’t it the same. I was then told that the one on the phone was a twist (it was only chocolate & vanilla swirl), the only difference is I ordered vanilla. However, it’s still custard. Came by because my son has been excited to try Rita's out ever since he saw the sign up during construction. He was actually checking every time we rode by if y'all were open. Well today to celebrate my kiddos first day of school we finally got to try y'all out. It was busy obviously since everyone just got out of school so I placed our order through the app and waited in the car and it was easy in about 5 min. The Italian ice is delicious and we will definitely be back to try more menu items!!!...
