This is the worst McDonalds in Albert Lea, MN. I visit family members often and this is the third time I've had problems at this location. The staff is untrained and the managers are I'll equiped to deal with issues. Today my daughter placed an order on the mobile app for 8 Big Breakfasts, I didn't realize until they brought me the food that the hotcakes were missing. Of course we ordered the big breakfast without hot cakes ... Our fault. When I asked the manager if we could correct it she lies to my face and said they could not because they do not have access. Then told me it would be an approximate charge of $20 to add the hotcakes (had I ordered it correctly it would have been an additional $6) how convenient. I told her to refund my money because that wasn't right and she said she wouldn't because it was my mistake. So basically she wanted to railroad me into paying an additional $20 for hotcakes. At this point I'm upset because I've just paid $48 for breakfast with no hotcakes. She finally says she will fix MY MISTAKE (which is fine because I never said I didn't make the mistake). My card had been charged and credited 3 times before this now (she said I did that...nooooo her crew was not properly trained on how to deal with mobile orders) finally she charges my card with the corrected amount for my food (plus she charged me an extra $1 for my coffee LOL which I laughed at because I didn't have anymore stamina to deal with lady's attitude). All the while she's packing my food she's talking out loud about my situation...she gives me the bags and when I ask her for butter and syrup she says you already have them in your other bags. 🤔🤔🤔 So I asked her "if I didn't order hotcakes with my order why would you give me syrup and butter"? Her response was " I fixed YOUR MISTAKE so please leave my store" SERIOUSLY!!! I asked for her name and she said I didn't need to know it and to please leave her store. I was upset with this black lady manager (since I don't have her name) because of her attitude. Was it busy YES, did I ask her to correct my food because it was ordered wrong YES...but that's customer service. I wasn't asking for anything other than a fair price on the food my grandkids really wanted. When I got home my daughter says "I should have mentioned none of us do McDonalds in Albert Lea for that same...
Read moreI ordered two happy meals in the drive thru. One for my 4 year old and one for my 2.5 year old. I received one at the window. I sat waiting for the other. The gal came back to the window wondering what I needed. I told her the deal. She went and got someone else who I assumed was a manager. She asked for my receipt, looked at it and said "there's only one on the receipt". I said "ok but I ordered two". Mind you I was in a hurry hence the reason we stopped for "fast food". She said I could pull up and wait longer (as though I hadn't wasted enough time talking about their mistake) for them to make another happy meal. I figured I would be compensated for the inconvenience. Nope! She said it'll be another $4 and some odd cents. I STARED at her in disbelief for what seemed like an eternity before I told her to forget it. So now my kids are sharing one happy meal because of their mistake. I called twice to speak with a manager. At first she was nice. Then she turned very rude and told me I was trying to get something for nothing. I told her I just figured I might be compensated for the inconvenience of your team's mistake. She then tried to make it my fault because the order is read back to the customer in the drive through and at the window. I told her, I'm sorry I didn't notice if your team member didn't have an "s" at the end of "meal". I had three children 4 years old and under in my van with me. The last thing on my mind was making sure her every word was pronounced properly. Either way, it's your team members responsibility to get the customers order correct. I specifically said "I would like TWO 4 piece chicken nugget happy meals with apple slices and chocolate milk". How is that misunderstood for one happy meal? I dont get it. Needless to say we will NOT be visiting that...
Read moreI'm updating my short review for a much longer one.
I'm not coming back to this location. I have been told the "machine" for Coffee AND Ice Cream has been broken (one or the other) nearly every time I've come here. I was missing two of six items today when I took my food, and usually it's not a problem (I order in-store now, because in drive through it was nearly every time), and though I didn't leave the store, they still told me I needed to wait like ten minutes for them to get a manager and get it "replaced", even though it was MISSING. I have been rudely responded to when asking for someone's attention when walking in. I've asked for sauces (ketchup mainly) and have been told to my face "you have enough" when I ordered food for four people and got enough ketchup for one. The lobby was closed unexpectedly one morning, and instead of putting up a sign, they just waved me towards the drive thru...which is very unreliable in my opinion. Burgers didn't have onion or pickles, and I'm pretty sure because I asked for my food to be made as ordered, they decided to just make me wait for my food for half an hour, even though I was very polite and patient...but nearly an hour total for one person worth of food...not acceptable.
I just don't feel like a single person here cares about their job. And when confronted in a constructive way, being met with intolerance even though I'm trying to do business here, makes me feel like driving out of my way to get what I order, the first time, correctly, that is, if I feel like going out of my way, meaning out of Albert Lea, since I've come to find out the same owner has all of them in town, meaning zero interest in "managing" or guiding his employees to earn...
