Econo Lodge — Hotel in Albert Lea

I stayed at the ABV Inn in Albert Lea, MN on March 16 & 17 2015. It was by far and away the WORST stay ANYWHERE EVER. Upon arrival @ 830 pm, the first room I was checked into had not been touched by housekeeping, beer cans and wine bottles all over, beds unmade. After complaining i was checked into the 2nd room, all seemed well except for the noisy heater. I proceeded to turn the heater way down and went to sleep, as I was there for training (being held at the motel). At 136 AM I was awoken by the sound of my smoke alarm going off because the noisy heater was on FIRE. Being a volunteer fireman I took it upon myself to unplug the heater, extinguish the flames, open the window to ventilate the room and report it to the front desk. The desk reluctantly called the fire dept but they did. After the firemen were there and cleared the scene, I was moved to another room, without so much as an "are you ok?" or "we're sorry". My clothes smelled like smoke and were cover in black soot from the fire. That sums up my first 5 hours at this establishment. As for the training classes, the training was great but the conference rooms were terrible as well, stained ceiling tiles, tiles missing all together or half broken, pool was closed, & horrible bar tenders. And to top it all off I got charged full price. When I complained they ponied up a $22.08 discount. I will NEVER stay at this dive...

Arrived Thursday at 2:00 for a 3 night stay for meetings. Couldn't check-in until after 3:00. Checked in and went to room. Looked nice enough. Later we discovered that there were no glass's in bathroom. Went to night clerk, very nice man, and told him. He asked if we had a coffee maker and I said no. % min. later he showed up with glass's and coffee maker. While he was there I noticed the chain lock for the door had been cut off. Said he would fix it. Left Friday morning and when we returned around 6:00 the room was just as we left it in the morning, nothing replaced or was it made up. Nothing replaced so I got more cups and coffee. The chain was not replaced. Saturday morning left about 7:45 and back around 6:00. NOTHING CHANGED AGAIN! Waste baskets getting full, chain on door not fixed, bathroom floor sticky and we did not take any showers because the shower looked dirty! Sunday checked out and asked for a 1 nights refund and the person said he couldn't do anything for me and I would have to call the person on duty on Monday. I will call on Monday and try to get 2 nights refunded and if not I will wright a letter to the Editor of the local paper and even if it does not get published, I will feel like I got my point across of one of the local motels! First of all our car broke down and we were waiting to get it fixed in the morning. We told the staff this they gave us the rate of 79.99. We told them where and who was fixing it as well come to find out they're supposed to give you the 59.99 rate if you're getting your car fixed at this place. We came back to the room to go to bed pulled off the covers and a blood stain was on the sheets he size of a quarter. So they obviously don't wash their sheets. There was even a quarter by it to scale it meaning someone had seen it and done nothing. We went down to inform the staff the next morning after we found out about the discount as well and they told us they were going give us the 59.99 rate. I complained saying that that's the rate we were supposed to get in the first place she then offered 15 off and said that was all she could do. Which is fine but management really should have comped the room or done something else for us because that was disgusting. Also the bathroom had dried urine on the floor. This place is gross.
