The restaurant is open and it is great! You can see them prepare the food right there in the kitchen. I recently discovered that I love their pickles in the falafel sandwich (got the special deal, sandwich+drink+pastry for cheap!) They showed me what kind of delicious black tea they served and I got a box. Plus, I previously bought a great stovetop pouring pot to warm up coffee or oat milk (so vegan) in winter. Speaking of vegan, if you leave off the yogurt sauce, many of their plates are vegan. Luckily I’m not vegan so I enjoy that sauce too. So glad they’re here, the grocery and the restaurant and lovely staff!

Sat, 9/21/24 this was my first time going here based off the reviews I read and because I had a taste for a good gyro sandwich. This is a store/restaurant. It was clean, the staff was friendly, the prices are very good/reasonable. I got the lamb gyro. It was very good, it was made fresh so it was hot and all the ingredients were fresh. My husband got the chicken kabob sandwich and he said his sandwich was very good as well. We also decided to try some of the desserts and they were delicious as well. So I highly recommend giving Cafe Istanbul a try whenever you're in the mood for some good Mediterranean food.

Do not recommend at all. I was very let down with service and food. I was thrown off when I heard worker use a microwave. I watched them prepare my sandwich and she literally heated up chicken in microwave, she also used microwave to heat up pita bread. (The disrespect to the culture) I couldn’t believe this. The food is premade some where else. Portions are very small and cold. I also ordered baklava and I got a very small piece for $2 Costco baklava was better tasting this one. Don’t buy food here great places to grocery shop but not eat reheated premade food from god knows where.

Okay, so I am actually the first customer this store ever had. My mother and I brought a flower and bought apples and strawberries back when it was a tiny fresh fruit market- I have never stopped shopping there.

Every time I have gone I find something tasty, something new, something that I really just enjoy, and kind service. I honestly don't even buy tea anywhere else, or sweets (because what else am I going to have with my tea?)

Whenever I feel sad I get a big to-go order of dolmas, hummus, falafel, and whatever else catches my eye because I know it'll be delicious, easy, and always exactly right.

I highly recommend this place- they have maintained a consistent, high degree of quality since I was like ten years old. I'll never stop going (unless I move away) and even then, I'd miss them.

Do yourself a favor and go browse the candy- it'll be a great time (seriously, I kind of get why Edmund was so down to give up his family over...

You should check out Cafe Istanbul. It has the vibe of your favorite locally-owned restaurant and your favorite niche market.

COOKED FOOD: The food is tasty and reasonably priced. I normally purchase gyros, but I have also purchased vegetable and meat pies.

EXPAND YOUR PALATE: One of my favorite things about the store is its variety of delicious foods from other parts of the world, including: yummy specialty cheeses, pickled vegetables, candies, soda pops, cookies, spices, and lots more.

SERVICE: The people who work in the restaurant/store are wonderful and helpful. I gave the service a 4 because there is a wait if you go there around meal times. I understand the food is worth the wait, but someone who has never eaten there might be turned off.

ATMOSPHERE: This is not a sit-down restaurant; so, there is no restaurant vibe. It is a great place to experiment with new...

You might not expect the wonderful food to be here in this very unassuming Cafe, attached to a grocery store, but it's well worth going! Hubby & I went for late lunch & only 1 other table then 2 had other diners. We had the chicken shwarma wrap w/fries & drink. And we shared a spinach pie. So delicious!! Flavorful & hot, served quickly. So friendly & welcoming, and I'm already thinking of what to get next time. A man even came around with a beautiful coffee at the end of the meal. Delicious with herbal flavors to brighten the strong coffee flavor. I only had a sip, next time I will have one for myself. By the time we were finishing our meal, the place was busy with a line of people ordering to go meals. So glad to see such nice folks succeeding, we have been shopping at the grocery since moving to ABQ...
