So today, A really good friend of mine and I had lunch. We decided to go to Cinnamon Cafe. It was our first time there. Because we were on a time limit, we looked up the menu online and called to place our order ahead of time. The employee said it would be ready in 15 mins. We got there and waited in line for 15 minutes until it was our turn..we told the employee at the register that we called in an order to eat there.. the employee walked away then walked back and charged me for the food and immideatly starts helping the next person.. I had to ask, "so do we go sit down or wait here???" The employee said, "go sit down." We sit at a table and everybody was staring at us!! They can't take there eyes off of us (WE ARE THE ONLY 2 BROWN SKIN PPL IN THE ENTIRE CAFE!!) And my friend does mention that to me and I replied with.. no it's probably cuz we are in our work uniforms. I want to beleave that racism isn't in Alb. The waiter brought our food.. my food is on a plate and my friends food was in a to go box.. we asked the waiter if they can please put his food on a plate aswell.. Waiter rolled her eye's and walked away.. Waiter brought back the food and my friend mentioned to the waiter that the cheese on his burrito was cold to the touch.. he asked her if they can warm his food up, so the cheese can melt.. she grabed the plate from his hand and gave it to another waiter.. the new waiter then said "that's why you shouldn't call in a order" then I tell her.. I didn't know it was going to be such a problem.. our lunch is short! I touched the cheese and noticed it was cold.. the waiter smacked my hand while I was touching the cheese. My response was.. you might aswell touch the cheese now your hand was just in the plate! She took off with the plate to put it in the microwave. (MEANWHILE AT THIS POINT THE WHOLE CAFE IS STARING AT US) I'm used to ppl staring at me because I'm gay.. because I dress like a guy.. but these stares where different.. kind of with a look of disgust on their face!!!!! We get up and ask for our money back.. she gave it to us no apologies! That was the first time in our life we've been discriminated on because of our skin color!! It's definitely mind blowing, sad and shocking!!! I'm at a loss for words!!!!! Cinnamon...
Read moreFood was delicious. I got the breakfast croissant with a side of fruit. The fruit was not screaming freshness, but was pretty good. The staff was friendly and kind. The ordering system is quite confusing though and doesn't make sense to me. Note: there are menus on the counter before the registers. The first time we went in last Sunday, there was a line, and we didn't understand how the ordering process worked or how to figure out what they had; my husband just saw chaos, so we left. I came back today alone on a weekday at mid morning, and it was much better. I found the menu, but the coffee descriptions were written on the wall in such tiny handwriting that I couldn't read it. The nice lady offered to describe whatever I was interested in, but that seemed painful for both of us, so I picked one randomly. It was good, but I would have liked to have known my options. The part that really didn't make sense to me though was that the person takes your order, rings you up, then that same person proceeds to make your coffee. So, you have to stand there, staring at the person making your coffee, literally breathing down their necks, (can't really avoid it) while also holding up the ordering line. Their process does not seem very smooth and is uncomfortable, IMHO. Second tip: If you want a glass of water, ask for a glass when you order at the register. Then look near the restrooms for the self-serve water station. I had no idea and got my food and realized I was thirsty. I looked around but didn't see the water station, and didn't want to get back into the line to get a water. (That wasn't just laziness; I was alone, and too many times I have gotten up from a table to get something when I'm alone at a restaurant only to return and find my food has been cleared off!) Another way in which their system is a little confusing and frustrating. If you are going to make water available, is it a big deal to make glasses available too? All in all, I will return for the good food and coffee and kind people. But I really hope they smooth out their...
Read moreI can’t say enough about this amazing gem here in ABQ! I recently celebrated my 40th birthday 🥳 and they did not disappoint! Beyond the celebration, it was also my 1st time dining @ Cinnamon Cafe & what a first time it was! A time I won’t soon forget! Gabby took care of our party promptly upon arrival and with such care. She lovingly set the party up at the most perfect big top table to handle the guests and myself, with zero hesitation to accommodate us all, a trait very hard to find these days! The line was long but the team there handled it quickly and without missing a beat. Whomever took our order was fantastic and warm, she called back the order, a skill slowly dying in today’s modern dining scene, very happy to see that level of care still exists in full function! My taste buds were beyond excited, I chose Cinnamon Cafe more than a month ago, so the anticipation was at a fever pitch! And once again, Kanella and her crew delivered the good with dishes such as the Paseo Pile Up(my personal favorite), homemade biscuits and gravy with a tarragon infused deliciousness in every bite! The piece de resistance, A Big Bowl of Captain Crunch with a VLS (very large spoon)… I was a kid again and immediately transported back in time to a Saturday morning watching my beloved cartoons! The lattes were flowing generously and I was even treated to one for my special day! Kanella is amazing and we all need to visit her establishment regularly, your palette and pals will all be satisfied! To top it all off, I was serenaded with a happy birthday and one too many candles adorned on one of the absolute best, frosting heavy(thank you for that!!) most pillowy cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had! Cinnabon who?? So get on over to Cinnamon Sugar & Spice Cafe @ mountain run. It is Eli tasted, approved and...
