Yesterday, I was told I am the only customer who ever complains multiple times over by the manager, Abigail. Yesterday 4/3/24: I ordered huevos rancheros takeout for lunch. I checked it in store & it looked right so I took it home. The small tortillas were missing & the potatoes were not right (pictured). They were the consistency of a potato beef jerky, hard & tough & dry. This had never happened before so I called & explained. I wanted it remade because it’s $15, a treat to me, & the potatoes were not even close to normal. I was hung up on twice. I was put on hold while I was discussed in the background - though the conversation was professional I wasn’t meant to overhear it. I was told that I am the only customer who ever complains & they can’t remake my meal or refund everytime I come in. I was surprised by this. I asked if the expectation is that no one will say anything when something isn’t right & it was reiterated again I am the only one who ever complains. I have never had this kind of interaction with a place of business ever. Abigail’s claims didn’t sit right so I dug up the data on my spend here so this review is fact based instead of an emotional response.
I love numbers. They do not lie. The number of complaints I have made has been 100% in the last 30 days (2 visits), 15% in 2024(2/14 visits), or 18% the past 6 months (4/22). The numbers improve further if we also count the times I’ve gone to Mykonos. The total percent of fail at Meraki is 4% (5 issues/4 complaints/100+ visits since April 2021). All incidents have been within the last 6 months.
I hadn’t had issues very often from my perspective, which is ultimately why I’d kept going back.
The incidents where I complained: Balloon fiesta 2023 - I ordered avocado as an add on to mine & my husband’s breakfast. Breakfast delivered with no avocado. They brought the avocado out after we said something & the issue was resolved easily. November 2023 - I ordered take out with an extra egg (paid add on). The extra egg was not included. I called & instead of having it remade I asked if I could come in later in the week & get avocado added since that add on costs the same as the egg add on. This was resolved the next visit though something else was missing (I don’t remember what & I don’t remember asking for a fix. I wasn’t able to go again until January). NOTE: there were no complaints again across multiple visits until March 2024. I did order food another time in February where they forgot to put my order in & I had a longer wait but I ultimately didn’t mind that & usually expect long wait times since they are always busy. I had no issue/complaint with this. Beginning of March 2024 - I came in on a Saturday morning & ordered a breakfast sandwich to go. I waited 45+ minutes & saw people who’d ordered well after me getting food so I asked. I was given my breakfast & told it had been ready for awhile & they hadn’t called the name since they thought it was a pick up order. They apologized. I checked at my car. It was cold & soggy so I brought it back & asked for a refund since I didn’t have time to wait for a replacement. They refunded my whole order (unexpected & I had only requested the sandwich refund because there was zero issue with the coffee). They also offered other means of resolution (free pastry) & I declined. The pastries are limited & as a former regular my goal has never been to have a negative impact on their business. Yesterday - detailed above
2 paid ad ons missing. 2 one off scenarios.
There was 1 other time where the barista made me the wrong drink realized it didn’t match the drink ticket & offered to remake it. I declined. I was curious & it wound up being one of my favorite things I’d had at Meraki: happy accident, happy customer.
Meraki was my go to & would have been a 5 star review with me simply no longer ordering takeout had yesterday gone differently.
I can’t get over being told I’m the only customer who ever complains, especially when the incidents I outlined above were all warranted, reasonable, or...

Read moreIf there was a zero star option I would put zero stars for sure. It amazes me that there are quite a bit of good reviews because this “cafe” is definitely underperforming and overrated. But hey not everyone’s got taste right? For starters, my husband and I came in for a nice breakfast only to be greeted with poor and lazy customer service. If you don’t want to do the job you’re getting paid to do then you shouldn’t be working. It’s not that hard to quit. Not to mention, coercing a 20% tip for what? For taking my order and then proceeding to mess up my order?
Anyways for the food itself, we got the juevos rancheros and boujee breakfast sandwich. For drinks, we got a matcha and cappuccino. I got one pastry which not to mention was crusty beyond belief. You could tell the drinks were separating and not properly prepared. Definitely not worth the price for literally anything. I should’ve listened to the reviews that said everything looks pretty but it ends there because it doesn’t taste good. The food quality was not the best at all. I couldn’t even finish my meal because it just tasted like it was oily.
So yeah, if you’re thinking of coming here don’t. But if you simply must, I recommend just getting a drink or asking about fresh pastries. They say “support local!” But it would be best to choose an establishment that actually deserves the support and treats their customers like actual humans.
I’m proud to say this was my first time trying Meraki and I will not be...
