Third Friday Lenten fish fry search. This place did not disappoint on many levels. Sat at the bar on my own. The Guinness was poured well, served a tad early but was a good temperature. Ordered the fish and chips, they offer 1 or 2 pieces so I ordered two. Happy mistake. The filet was huge (see picture - yes ate them both) so go hungry if you order two. Not sure what type of fish it was but it was nicely battered maybe a tad too crispy but still very good. Now the best part - the patrons. I think many were local, I ended up having a conversation with 4 different people. All very nice and people just joined in the conversation which made it very fun. I would go back just to sit at the bar and talk. Bar staff was not overly interactive but still attentive. I’m not sure how many tv screens there were but this would be an awesome place to watch a game. Nice local vibe, good food, nice bar area definitely worth a try.

Unless you enjoy elderly creepers, bad music, and horrible service on a Friday night, don't come here. We did come late, and we knew the kitchen was closed, not the problem at all. The real problem was trying to order three drinks from an almost empty establishment, and it taking more than 15 minutes for a simple tap beer and two mixed drinks. Will not be back.

This is a very nice Tavern. I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and it was good!! They serve Coke products and they have a full bar. The staff are very nice and take the time to get to know there regular customer and make new ones like us feel at home. Check them out and let me know what you think.

In the past this place was great. I'm not one who complains due to me serving in the Army 15+ years, but tonight did it.Tonight was not good at all in the beganing. I had a server named Lacy She is a short blind hair girl with glasses and She likes to show clevage. She is the worst server I have ever had. When my GF and I arrived we sat ourselves. It took our server 10 min or so to acknowled us. Lacy our server passed us 3 times before she brought us menus to order food. When we were ready to order we had to flag her down. Lacy then kept asking my GF what would you like? When my GF asked for the enchiladas Lacy would respond that she was comfused. My GF told her 4 times what she wanted. Then she asked for mine. I told her I wanted the breakfast enchiladas with eggs over medium no lettuce or tomato but add extra onion and both red and green Chile. When our order came out it looked good but I notice that I did not have onion. I asked her for a side and she looked at me and said she was CONFUSED. I told her what are you confused about? She said she didn't get what I was saying. I told can I please have a side of onion? She said oh okay. Instead of going to get it she was talking to the guys accross from us and she didn't even bother. I got up and went to ask a woman and and a man that was by the kitchen. The gentalman name was Jerrad. He turned out to be the General Manager. I told him that I have been having bad service since I got here. I did ask him for a side in onion. As I was waiting Lacy passed me and she did come out with it in her hand but did not give it to me she then took it all the way to the table. I told her thank you. I thought it was going to be ok after that but as I started to eat my eggs were hard. I waived her down to tell her. She came up to me and told me off. She told me all she does is enter the order and she don't have control over the kitchen. THEN SHE YELLED AT ME AND SAID THAT SHE DOES NOT APPRECIATED THAT I REPORTED HER TO HER BOSS ABOUT HER SERVICE, AND IF I HAD SOMETHING TO SAY TO SAY IT TO HER. I then asks to speak to her manager. I told the GM Jerrad what happen and that I wanted to leave. He did say to give them one more chance to make it Right. I told him I already did twice and it failed. He did ask me what happened. I explained to him what happened. He acknowledge the issue, apologized, and corrected. He also gave me a gift certificate for next time.I did ask if I can did somewhere else because every time Lacy passes by she says something or talk to other guest about us. He did say we should sit on Alixis side. We did and she was the best. I'd did take the kitchen 32 min to get me a remake of my order. They will messed up my eggs. Someone needs to tech the cooks how to make over medium eggs. Anyways I did tip Alixis $20. She did her best to make us feel welcome. Maybe next time the service will be better...

Literally done giving this place any more chances. The first time I went there with my girlfriend we sat at the table for maybe 20 minutes before anyone approached or said anything to us, though multiple staff members walked by us every minute or two, often making eye contact with us. Finally our server approached us and we had good service after that. The food was also pretty good. We chalked it up to them being busy and not handling stress well, so I was willing to give them another chance. So tonight I walked in with my kids for dinner at about 5:55. The place was not busy and on our way to find a table (the sign inside the door said to seat yourself), we walked by a table that had two adults and two small kids, younger than mine, looking at menus. They clearly hadn't ordered yet. We sat at a table in the corner and again sat there for 20 minutes, while again multiple staff members walked by us and made eye contact every minute or two the entire time. One even sat down several times two tables away from us to take bites of her food in between running food to other tables. During this time the other table with children ordered and received their drinks. Finally after 20 minutes, a server (the one serving the other table with kids!) approached us and said I'm sorry but kids aren't allowed in here after 6:00. I said "oh that's interesting because that table has kids sitting there". She said "oh that's because they were here before 6:00". I said "ok cool, well we were also here before 6:00, it's just that we were ignored for 20 minutes before you decided to pay us a visit." She said "I'm sorry, I just started working here, but that's our rule. I can go ask someone if you want." I said "no that's fine, the service here is awful anyway. I no longer expect that to change." Not sure why the serving staff here is so rude, but I'm not interested in giving them...

The review below was from a year ago. I have really enjoyed the food and friendly service at H&A since then. It is the regular lunch place for my gang to meet. HOWEVER, the gang went to H&A on Friday, November 7th and were very disappointed to find that they have substituted shoestring fries for the full cut fries that we have enjoyed so much over the years. ALSO, the Hells Bells burger that is one of my favorites was changed as well. It was so full of mayonnaise that it dripped out of the burger. Shame on you for making these changes. I will give you one more chance, then look for another lunch rendezvous. As of today, 3 stars. (the staff is still awesome.)

Last year: I have been going to the Horse & Angel about once a week for about a year now. I was shocked when I read the reviews. Something must have changed between the time the other reviews were written and my experience. Here is what I have experienced: Really good food. Even my wife likes it. Good variety of food. The wait staff is very professional. Friendly and caring. Not just pretty faces. The clientel is well-mannered, making it a good place for families. I have had to wait on my check a little longer than I would have liked a couple of times out of about 50. I usually find one or two items on menues that I come back to time and time again, but I have found at least 1/2 dozen on the menu at H&A that I find exceptional. For example the cajun catfish, the chicken fried steak, the tacos and any burger on the menu are better than most. One very special touch is that H&A does not add tax to your meal. The price of every item ends in either .00, .25, .50 or .75, making it easy to find the right change and calculate a tip.

I tend to tip a little higher here than I do at most places because the service is...
