Currently on a road trip from Texas to San Francisco and as usual, I LOVE to try coffee in each state I pass through. Was on food an wine magazine website reading about the best coffee roasters in each state and this shop is the winner for NM. If you'd like to truly understand how a coffee shop works and if they are dedicated to the craft or not, I'd suggest ordering an espresso shot. This one amazing drink can give you so much information about an entire business plan, the people who work there and how much they appreciate coffee. As for this shop, I'm confident that they care a lot. They have their very own special blend of espresso beans, which is always an excellent option from a legit roaster. The shot was prepared with care and they have the proper equipment for espresso goodness. The shot itself had the stunning, creamy, chocolatey head that only a perfect espresso shot can have, it's served along side sparkling water and in a lovely little turquoise blue shot cup. The flavors were very fresh, extremely clean and lacked that awful bite that even decent espresso shots have from time to time. Absolutely perfect espresso shot and I'm so excited to make some of my own when I get to Cali. I talked with a few of the shop employees and they were super friendly, very helpful and that's another wonderful touch. Keep rocking it y'all. Much love from this coffee fan to you and yours.

First of all, this is not your standard coffee shop. This is special! They roast coffee right there, and there’s an entire menu of roasted coffee you can bags for about $20. They have a tasting room and offer coffee flights. Flights are samples of several coffees you can taste. The menu features express drinks plus some lattes, Americanos and regular cup of Joe. And they have homemade marshmallows for specialty hot chocolate as well as an espresso offering. The espresso drinks are unique! We tried Espresso Estrella: Cutbow espresso pored over iced elderflower tonic water and garnished with Mandarin orange salt. This was new to me and at first sip I wasn’t so sure I wanted to drink it. “An acquired taste,” I thought. I acquired an appreciation of this drink on my second sip and really like it now. So refreshing! The espresso and coffees menu price ranges from $3.5 to $5.55. These are very fair prices for what they deliver. The place was bustling on a late Saturday morning. Seating inside and out. And the decor is warm and aesthetic. I’m coming back for more!

Tucked away in Albuquerque, Cutbow Coffee is a gem for true coffee lovers. This independent roaster takes its craft seriously, and the results are undeniable. The iced coffee we enjoyed was nothing short of perfection—smooth, robust, and deeply refreshing, with a depth of flavor that proves their dedication to quality roasting. Every sip was a testament to their expertise. Of course, we couldn’t leave without taking home some beans, eager to bring a piece of their mastery into our own brewing rituals. The selection was impressive, each bag promising the same meticulous care that made our iced coffee such a standout. It’s clear that Cutbow Coffee isn't just serving drinks; they’re cultivating an experience, one carefully roasted bean at a time. For anyone seeking exceptional coffee with an artisanal touch, Cutbow Coffee is a must-visit.

I don’t live in Albuquerque, but I let friends and strangers alike know about the magic of Cutbow if I hear they’re passing through ABQ.

For the discerning coffee enthusiast, Cutbow is exactly what you’re looking for. They’re a coffee roaster with a strong, thematic, and memorable brand. They have an amazing interior space that pays tribute to how wonderful and varied coffees from different regions and roasts can be while ALSO honoring a breadth of fishing lore that introduces itself very obviously but can only be appreciated at depth with careful and focused curiosity around the shop. It’s a masterful and well executed take on an immersive coffee experience and easily surpasses the enormous majority of players in the space. The sourcing and roasts on the coffees are artisan level. The barista recipes range from tried and true to “I’ve never had that before.” It is all truly, truly great.

For the fishing enthusiast who also grabs a cup of joe on occasion, Cutbow is exactly what you didn’t know you needed. Even if you set all that coffee mumbo jumbo aside, take a look around! Everything in the place is an ode to regional fishing. Lures, flies, rods, reels, trout of every variety. Even a trip to either bathroom will reward you with something to learn about fishing. (By the way, the Cutbow Trout from which the coffee shop likely gets its name is featured or depicted in several places if you keep an eye out.) Fishing! Coffee! Perfection!

For the enthusiastic lover of delicious coffee drinks (and tea!), Cutbow is the pot of coffee gold at the end of your coffee Rainbow Trout. Whether you want to taste coffee in your drink or you’d rather that coffee be there but kinda play a secondary role to delicious syrups—I’ve got news for you. Cutbow will give you what you need! And they make their own damn syrups IN HOUSE (I know!). There are delicious pastries too! Diet schmiet!

Folks. There are surely some other coffee joints to love in Albuquerque. But if you can only make one stop, trust me—this is the place. Come and take it all in. Leave your phone in your pocket while you wait for your drink to arrive and use the time to get curious. Ask the master roaster, Paul, about coffee or Cutbows. Every question and curiosity is welcome, I promise. Shop for art, smell the coffee varieties, bask in the vibe. There is no way you’ll regret it. Unless you’re reading this and have still never stopped by. In that case, may the regret and fear of missing out haunt you like that fish that...

A Beacon of Generosity and Kindness: Cutbow Coffee and Owner Paul

As a loyal patron of Cutbow Coffee, I am compelled to share my recent experience, one that exemplifies the true essence of kindness and generosity. On May 5th, 2024, I found myself grappling with the aftermath of a car burglary, a disheartening event that left me feeling violated and frustrated, to say the least.

To compound matters the thieves had stolen the 3 bags of coffee I had just purchased. Which left me completely out of coffee, a small yet essential comfort that seemed particularly crucial on that following Monday morning.

Enter Paul, the owner of Cutbow Coffee, whose unwavering generosity and compassion turned what could have been a dismal start to the day into a heartwarming reminder of the goodness in humanity. Despite Cutbow being closed on Monday’s, Paul graciously met me at his coffee bar and, to my utter astonishment, replaced my stolen coffee free of charge.

Not only did Paul's generosity lift my spirits, but it also ensured that I could face the challenges of the day ahead with the proper caffeinated fuel that I defiantly needed.

Cutbow Coffee has not only cultivated a space in Albuquerque for exceptional coffee but also fostered a community built on kindness and compassion.

To Paul, I extend my deepest gratitude for your kindness. Your actions were nothing short of a lifesaver, and I am forever grateful for your kind act and of course...
