Kulantro — Restaurant in Albuquerque

My review is not about the food, but about shady business practices. I waited over 30 minutes in line because I had heard so many great things, but when I got home and reviewed my receipt, they added a $3.00 tip to my credit card when I purposefully did not choose to leave a tip when I waited over 30 minutes in line and had to wait another 10 to get my food. A tip is meant for a server taking your order, being efficient, and bringing you your food, Kulantro does not provide those services. I also wonder if I had left a tip if they would have added that to the tip they took without my knowledge. They also charged a fee for using my credit card, but I do not recall seeing that policy posted anywhere, and I am relatively certain the sign said bottled water and tea were $3.00 a bottle, I was charged 3.80. My meal with tax should have been around $11.07, but I was charged $15.29. I do not recommend this establishment.

Responding to owners response - Thank you for letting me know you will address the signage. I am not clear from your response if you are implying that I inadvertently left a 24% tip (I did not) or that it is your practice to automatically charge a 24% tip and expect the customer to review the terminal and adjust the tip before signing, because if that is the case, you definitely need to let your customers know you are charging them a 24% tip and they need to adjust it to what they want before signing. There are two other google reviews below that also say they were charged a tip without their knowledge (De Ar and Deloy Smith), so that tells me you have either programmed the terminals to charge an advance tip or you have a dishonest employee, either practice is not ethical in my opinion. I was visiting town once again and I always come here! It's my favorite spot and I feel like it's worth it every time. Unfortunately when I showed up today, ten minutes before they opened just to browse at the menu before walking around and coming back to order I was met with horrible attitude from a young girl working there, she had short black hair and an awful demeanor. She stated that they wouldn't be opening on time since she was the only one there and I told her it was completely fine! I was just looking at the menu. Every time I walked by until I ordered she gave me and my sister horrible looks, and made faces at us. I finally went up to order and she angrily said that she didn't have half of the menu available, i think trying to convince us to eat elsewhere, anyway the food was amazing and affordable as usual!!!!! But when we went to get a box so we could take our food to go she rolled her eyes at us and once again and awful attitude, due to this I honestly don't want to eat here anymore, it's unfortunate because the food is just wonderful but after that experience I have no intentions of encountering this hateful young...

Their pho was the right amount of savory and spices. The noodles were the right firmness. Don't be fooled by the small looking plastic-ware they serve it with because they packed that portion. It had a lot of meat, and fresh veggies were set to the side. They will give you a small cup of housin and Sriracha. I also got the spring rolls. I originally wanted shrimp, but they ran out, so I opted for chicken. Although the 2 rolls were big and had a lot of meat, the vegetables and wrap were not to my liking. The wrap is different from the usual 3 ladies' brand, so it has a different consistency and dries out quickly. They served it on plastic paper, and the wrap clung onto it tightly. I prefer spring rolls with a mixture of greens, carrots, and a little mint. The veggies here were just a salad spring mix. The housin and peanut sauce wasn't the best either.
