Pet Room 229 stayed overnight from 7/21-7/22 I’ll start off with the good! Absolutely loved the idea of a pet room. The personal touches of a dog bed, bowls, and treats at check-in were great and my dog appreciated the heck out of it. The $30 fee seemed reasonable as well. Everyone I encountered was very kind both in person and over the phone. Literally walked up and booked a room within 5 minutes of arriving, no reservation, but keep in mind it was a Monday. I was able to see my car from the room which was convenient since ABQ has a rep for car break-in’s unfortunately. Once I was in for the night, I barely heard a peep from anyone or anything on my floor and it was a wonderfully quiet stay compared to stays in other hotels where people are slamming doors and talking loudly in the hallways at all hours of the day and night. Now for the not so great… Once my dog was in the room, he IMMEDIATELY started picking up scents of other dogs, which if solid cleaning practices were done, wouldn’t happen. He is 100% house broken, but since the smell of another dog was on the bed skirt, he felt the need to mark the bed skirt as well. I called front desk and they got housekeeping up very quickly which was awesome, mopped up the mess, but when I asked if I could get a new bed skirt, they only insisted on spraying some sort of solution on the skirt since moving the mattress would be too much work. This is concerning since it doesn’t seem like all the linens in the pet rooms are replaced after each dog’s stay. It’s terribly unsanitary and causes other dogs to want to mark the same areas. The room was also pretty dated, with a weird lingering smell, torn curtains, and the tv only having sound on some channels without showing what’s actually on. Heres the worst part though- the tub doesn’t drain. I took a shower for maybe 15 minutes and the water was above my ankles. It took the whole night for the tub to drain but there was still a little puddle of water left. I made the mistake of showering again in the morning so there was another pool of water probably waiting for housekeeping when they went in. Overall, this would be a great budget-friendly option for people looking to save on traveling with pets if the price were to come down, because it is definitely not worth $200+

Foreign cat food and panties of another were found under the dresser of the room I stayed in at the Best Western Plus Rio Grande. I probably would have never known about the cat food other than the fact that I have a cat and he found the alien cat particles - the panties just happened to accompany them. Unfortunately, there is so much more - I ordered a dirty Ketel One martini in the bar and the bartender didn't know what Ketel One was. I should have went with a beer right away. A picture follows. I didn't drink it. The manager refused to take it off of my bill. If it wasn't so expensive it would be funny. My expensive designer sunglasses fell off while I was in the pool - and I guess I am out of luck - no really. Rude is not the word I would use to describe how maintenance treated me. I have spoken with the front desk several times and I apparently am not getting my glasses back. I bought them just for this special, scary trip. What hotel do you stay at that you can't get an item back out of the pool? What is happening here? I am traveling solo across country which is scary enough - but this backwoods b.s.? Come on - have some couth. I cried all night long. It has been a hard trip. $200 for a regular motel room on a Monday night? And I am out for a pair of sunglasses and a martini - and a motel room ... Take my advice - don't spend your money here. Albuquerque is a cool town - spend it somewhere equally as cool, or at least somewhere that at least pretends you're cool while you're there - (minus the random cat treats and unmentionables)-

We were in Albuquerque for an extended weekend, and we stayed at the Best Western Rio Grande in Albuquerque Old Town. It was such a lovely stay! Old Town is by far the best part of Albuquerque to stay in! We loved its proximity to all of the amazing things to do listed below... We had a double queen room overlooking the pool, which was perfect for our family of 4. The pool was heated, even in October, which our kids adored! There was a fridge, which was nice because we ended up having lots of leftovers we could eat later. There was a coffee machine with lots of coffee and tea options, which is always a nice way to start your day! One of our favorite parts of the Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn was the fact that breakfast was included - but it's the nicest free breakfast we've ever had! It's a restaurant that's connected to the hotel, and it was fabulous! It's called Wild Avocado Cork & Tap. We got 4 vouchers for our breakfasts, and it was so nice to be able to roll out of bed and into this lovely little restaurant!

I wish I could remember the young fellow's name. I do remember he went out of his way to get my wife and myself checked in and described "Old Town" to us. We were even shuttled back and forth to Old Town. Overall, it was a super experience. The lady who checked us in was very helpful and I regret I don't remember her name even tho' I noted it at the time! TSK! Also, a trainee was helpful when I asked for another copy of our bill when we returned our "keys". Our room was very nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and the pool and courtyard were beautiful. The location was handy to Old town and museums. A great hotel for couples or families. The Old Town location and easy freeway access always makes this the perfect place for me to stay whenever I come to Albuquerque to visit my grandchildren! We played at the pool, had Vending machine snack/movie night and loved every minute! The room is spacious, the beds comfy, and the in-room refrigerator is a plus! The staff is always friendly and accommodating! Stayed here four times and looking forward to the fifth! Everyone we made contact with was extremely helpful. It was a very satisfactory experience. Nice staff! Great breakfast! Great location! The best part of our stay at this hotel was the helpfulness and friendliness of all of the staff. They were uniformly cheerful and seemed to go out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The shuttle service to the airport and to old town was very convenient even though we often walked to Old Town on our own. The food in the dining room was very good and the breakfast that came with our room charge although limited in choice, was excellent and a very good value. We would stay here again. All employees were professional and very pleasant. We liked staying with you well enough that we booked another night for our return trip. We'll definitely stay again. Love BW Plus Rio Grande. It's close to the historic district. Near good restaurants. Near the the express way. Always clean. Service is great. The staff was very helpful. The cleaning staff made sure our room was alright. The check in clerk tried to help us make reservations for the trolley. This Best Western is very close to old town. Beds were comfortable, rooms clean. They gave everyone a $5.00 breakfast voucher which you could order from menu. It was not a buffet. Had a wonderful experience. Would...

We are Best Western loyal customers. We've been to Best Westerns in many states including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, and more. Hands down my best experience was this Best Western. I loved the location. The front desk was very friendly and welcoming. The pet friendly rooms were actually clean including the floors. It's rare that the floors have been vacuumed. Most of the time, Best Westerns just sweep the hard floors but this one had been obviously vacuumed because it was free of debris which we really appreciate. The water pressure in the shower was very good. The room layout was very comfortable. The pillows were actually rectangular instead of square and had some substance to them. The beds were comfortable. They offer milk bones for your dog at the front desk when you check in, the room has bowls for water and food for your dog, and there's a dog bed in the room. There were plenty of the rolling carts to bring your luggage inside and up the elevator to your room. If I was going to provide some constructive feedback I would recommend that housekeeping actually open up the trash bags instead of just laying them across the trash can. There's no way you can get trash to actually go in the trash can unless you pull out the trash bag and actually open it. Customers don't want to open the trash bags so that the trash actually goes into the trash cans. Also, there wasn't an obvious place for pets to go to the bathroom. There should be an area with rocks so dogs can potty easily. The restaurant had a very good breakfast for my husband with eggs, potatoes, and sausage. This breakfast was complimentary. Do not order the breakfast burrito because they put way too much sauce. They ruined the burrito with the sauce. That's the only few things I would recommend improving because I highly recommend this best western and we will definitely stay here again. There was also a sunset from our room which was an...
