I never give reviews but this was probably the worst food and service ever.. I haven't eaten at a restaurant in over 6 months. I also hadn't eaten here in years.. I told my sister to go with me. I wish I picked somewhere else to eat as I was so disappointed. We sat outside and waited about 10 minutes before we were acknowledged .we finally got drinks and the waitress almost forgot to give us menus..I asked for them. I ordered Lydias Carne adovada a side of sour cream an order of biscuits and gravy and side of green chile.. after waiting over 30 minutes for our food we were given a plate of horrible food My eggs were supposed to be cooked over easy. They were cooked solid. They put cheese all over my carne. They almost forgot the side of sour cream and completely forgot the side of green chile. The biscuits were rock hard. Took 2 bites of my food and decided I would not finish. The waitress could see I hardly touched my food but her horrible customer service prevented her from asking if I liked it.she also not once refilled our drinks so we sat outside in the heat with no drinks most the time. There was a gentlemen that finally refilled us right before we left.. our server could see I was upset and did nothing but bring me a ticket for 35 dollars. I would never pay that much for their food again. Horrible service horrible food. I wish I had asked for...

Positive remarks to start: The location is fun, and I like the classic diner atmosphere. The employees were nice, and provided quick friendly service.

Now on to the bad. I have heard that they have one of the best chicken fried steaks (CFS) in ABQ, but what I received cannot be what people were talking about. I received two frozen, store bought CFS patties, that were mostly thick breading, watered down instant potatoes, a small amount of clearly old vegetables coated in some kind of oil, all drowning in watered down white gravy. Even the toast tasted weird/ grungy. Most of my food was luke-warm.

I am not picky, and rarely leave bad reviews (look for yourself if you care), but this food was awful. I would have been happier with a Hungry-Man frozen meal. The other person with me ordered a cheeseburger that looked good, but tasted like an old grease trap smells, that came with soggy fries (though the fries did seem home made and some people may enjoy this style to be fair). I was really hoping for a fun new option, but this is not it. I feel badly, but I really feel like I may as well have thrown away my money, and want to warn others. There are a multitude of places to get a fresh CFS for...

You guys want to really know what goes on at K and I Diner. Today my father was wrongfully terminated from this establishment. He is a Native American from New Mexico and has been in food industry for over 38 years. Before the new owner from out of state, Brenda took over he and one other cook were stuggling to keep business going often relying on dishwashers to help cook. He earned his pay before she took over and was working 5 days a week. He was was made to work 4 days only because he made SOO much money. She threatened to dock his pay and demoted him to a line cook/prep cook. She told the Spanish speaking workers they were not allowed to speak their laungages or wear religious necklaces while on the clock. New Mexico has many ethnicity and heritage and who goes to eat here, whats on the menu! Who pays their pay checks us New Mexicans. So whoever wants to work here and eat here that's how they treat their employees. Maybe you can have a meeting about how you should treat people especially elderly people that broke their backs for your...

I went here today on the recommendation of a coworker. I unfortunately could not take the Travis Challenge on 20 minutes notice, so I avoided the Travis altogether and went with Grandma's Biscuits. The meal came with two breakfast biscuits with egg, cheese, and sausage, as well as gravy on the side and hashbrowns. I want sure what to do with the gravy, so I dipped the breakfast sandwiches in there, and it was delicious. The restaurant started out with two strikes against them - they don't have Diet Coke (only Coke Zero), and the breakfast sandwich comes with American cheese. They quickly replaced the Coke Zero with Diet Dr. Pepper (which is completely satisfactory, and very rare for a restaurant to have), and I was able to substitute cheddar cheese on the biscuit, so it ended up as a home run. Also, I've never seen waitresses move so fast, yet not make you feel hurried at all while taking your order. My waitress literally jogged while getting my refill.

**COMPLETELY UPGRADED** An Albuquerque classic restaurant has been dramatically improved without losing it's connection to a long and fabulous past. The exterior has been redone and the interior has been masterfully redecorated and upgraded while maintaining an 1890's style and feel. Many tables have beautiful overstuffed high back chairs for patron comfort. It's truly beautiful! AND, the K&I is still as comfortable and inviting as it always was. The menu still has all the favorites from the past, the food quality is excellent, tasty Red and Green Chile, serving sizes are bountiful, the service is prompt and the staff is very friendly. Prices are very economical. It had been over five years since my last visit to K&I...I guarantee it won't be that long until my next visit!

This place served one of the best breakfast burrito plates Ihave ever had. I know why they've been around so long! Just don't go if you're in a hurry. Sign yourself up on the clipboard by the front counter, which forms the hostess stand. There weren't that many people there after noon on a Sunday but the wait was long, probably 25 minutes. After a bit of a weird sign-up and wait process in the front, then got moved to the vacant bar area, we were finally seated in the train-room (the front). Cool decorations and signs. The service was great and the food was equally good. I can't believe it took us so long to find this gem. The other rooms are cool too. Oddly there's only 1 shared bathroom door for all the customers but doesn't detract from my rating.
