I have not had a better fast food experience⦠maybe ever? Iām from LA, originally, and we had big city vegan spots with highly competitive flavors and textures and lucky goose is the first vegan place in Albuquerque Iāve eaten at that matched the high quality and flavor I used to know in vegan food in LA.
The āwildā fries were clearly meant to be a vegan replica of animal style fries at in and out a major fast food chain on the west coat / California. However, believe it or not, it actually put in and out to shame! Iām not even vegan. I would call myself 80% vegan so more like flexitarian and I felt like these were the best fries Iāve ever had! I added green chile to the wild fries and it was even that much more awesome. I hope the owner reads this and Iām able to let you know, donāt listen to the nay sayers who say the menu is too expensive. The quality and care you put into the food shows.
The lucky burgerā- I got it wild style as well. It was the best vegan burger in Albuquerque and maybe top 3 vegan burgers Iāve ever had in the whole USA.
We tried the cookies and cream shake. Which is the best cookies and cream shake Iāve ever had, even better than ones made with cow milk⦠I was surprised.
We also tried the matcha shake. It was pretty earthy, so my Partner loved it, the earthiness was a bit strong for my pallet but I still thought it was good.
The buffalo chicken burger. This was good, I got it with slaw, it was good, I really liked it. This is the only item I would say that Vegos did a little more to my pallet. The reason I say that is because I felt like the one from lucky was a bit more dry. Vegos ranch was a bit more tangy and had a more realistic ranch flavor. But I still think it was good š.
The service was very friendly, I do have one more comment for the owner though. For me this wasnāt an issue because I am usually pretty generous with tips. But some people may get concerned when they find out your pos is adding tip percentage on top of tax rather than the actual food total how it normally is. Again, I wasnāt really phased by it, but I know there could be a lot of people that may not say anything but internally feel weird when they find...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a vegan, I really really want to love this place. A new vegan restaurant in ABQ! While it's definitely not terrible, there are some issues that made it a less than ideal experience. I will first say that the food was good, just go in expecting burgers and fries and you'll leave happy. The staff were super friendly and the restaurant itself very clean.
Firstly, the ordering system seems a bit off. Our dine-in group had two separate orders/parties and we ordered one right after the other. While one of our orders came out after about 45 minutes (we knew to expect this wait going in) the second order probably came out 20 minutes after the first, as we watched other parties that had ordered well after us get served before our second order came out.
Secondly, there was no music! Put on some music, any music! The silence made for a very weird dining experience.
Lastly, and this one makes me so sad...even for dine-in, you are served with disposable cups, plates, napkins, etc. One of the benefits of a vegan diet is that it is sustainable/eco-friendly. All that throwaway stuff kind of negates any environmental good they are doing by serving plant based food.
There are just some things lacking at Lucky Goose that are givens in most restaurants. It's not a grab a quick bite and go type of place that you'd expect with the type of food they're serving. Definitely not ready to write this place off yet, but it was a little...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAmerican hamburgers taste like nostalgia. Their salty simplicity and intrinsic association with an invented American heritage offers a unique palette. It's the taste of ketchup and freedom and first loveā of holding unwashed hands ā of making lifelong friendsā of discovering the secular punishments for gluttony. And it's all tumbled together on a single soggy bun. Burgers were everything we wanted and they were the only American Dream we believed in.
But like many things from childhood, hamburgers did not age well. Beef patties are the byproduct of prolonged animal torture. And they're only appetizing if you ignore the violence required to procure them. But knowing something is bad does not free us from desireā especially the desire for comfort. So to keep ourselves sane, it's vital to find cruelty-free substitutes.
That's where Lucky Goose comes in. It's the vegan American Dream. The buns are a small and the patties are salty but it does not matter. It conjures up those elusive childhood memories. When we find ourselves longing for a mythic pastā a time when food was foodā Lucky Goose is here to help. It satisfies the craving for a...
