I took my work team to Naan + Dosa’s lunch buffet to celebrate a co-workers birthday. The birthday girl had been craving Indian food for over a year; I pass by Naan + Dosa frequently and had been eager to check it out. I realized her birthday was the perfect opportunity.
We arrived at 11:30am on a weekday when the lunch buffet starts. We were greeted by a friendly staff and sat immediately (they quickly combined 2 tables for our party of 6). The restaurant and buffet area were extremely clean and elegant (who doesn't love a cloth napkin). Although fairly full with other diners, the dining area was very quiet and allowed us to have a relaxing conversation amongst ourselves.
The buffet was delicious and included a wide variety of all of the favorite Indian dishes: tandoori chicken, saag paneer, pakora, navratan korma, chicken tikka masala, and many more. A lot of Indian dishes are vegetarian and/or gluten free. There was complimentary naan (both plain and garlic) brought to our table throughout the meal. The staff was extremely attentive throughout our stay- taking our drink orders, clearing finished plates, and asking if we needed anything.
Everyone fully enjoyed their flavorful meal, even my two co-workers who had never tried Indian food before! After we finished our meal, the staff arrived with a surprise birthday dessert and even sang happy birthday. This was a testament to how attentive and welcoming the staff at Naan + Dosa were- we never even mentioned it was her birthday, they must have over-heard (haha). We were all so full from the delicious buffet that none of us ate dinner that night. The next day, everyone continued to talk about what an enjoyable experience and delicious Indian food we had a Naan + Dosa the day before. We hope to...
Read moreIncredible shop on the eastern side of Albuquerque. Two adults, two children, $75. This included three appetizers, four baskets of naan, two soups, and two full entrees.
Walking in was a wave of spices, and friendly staff got us to the table quickly. Above "family dining" but FAR from snobbery or haute couture, my two young children didn't fell out of place, but there was a quiet feel of fine dining nonetheless.
Appetizers were vegetable samosas, two orders as they come two-to-the-order. About the size of an adult fist each, the samosas were full without being overpacked, fried without being greasy or lodgy, delicate in texture and flavour without being unsatisfying.
The children each wanted soup as their entrees, and both (not exactly picky eaters, but with good palates) not only ate their soups entire but declared them delicious. The elder child also got tandoori chicken wings from the appetizer menu as a part of his entree, something the staff was willing and able to accommodate without any issue whatsoever.
I and my spouse got a goat curry and a lamb saag respectively, and while the waiter asked if I was prepared for the heat of my dish, I am something of a heat-demon, so advised him to let the cooks run wild. Both dishes were incredible, the meat was spoon tender but not mushy or overcooked. My masala had heat, heat enough to get me to sweat a very little towards the end of the meal, but it was a gentle, building experience, and the flavours were delicately balanced. My spouse's saag was equally well spiced, but with only the barest of heat, enough to excite the tastebuds but not enough to overwhelm their less heat-loving tastes.
Overall, an excellent dining experience, and well worth the price, if normally outside our...
Read moreExcellent new Indian food restaurant at a convenient location with good staff and an expansive menu of delicious choices. Nice clean indoor restaurant with good service. I already thought we were lucky to have a lot of great Indian food in Albuquerque and am ecstatic to have enjoyed this one so much that I consider it one of the best ones. Will definitely be back.
We enjoyed everything we tried, including the garlic naan, kashmiri naan, onion kulcha, vegetable pakora, vegetable samosa, punjabi paneer pakora, vada pav, cheese dosa, mysore masala dosa, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, baigan bhartha, aloo gobi, rogan josh, & saag paneer.
Very few Indian restaurants around town have the dosas, and they were certainly a treat. The dipping sauces with them were very flavorful and delicious.
I haven't had better paneer pakoras in town either - these ones were very tender and had a great texture with the perfect proportions to make them very enjoyable.
This was the first time I'd tried the kashmiri naan, which was definitely very different. It has an add combination of flavors. While I likely won't order it again myself, I'd still recommend anyone try it out to see what they think since it's so unique.
The chicken tikka masala and butter chicken were both very delicious, but also extremely similar - almost indistinguishable from one another.
The saag paneer was not as rich & creamy as others, but was very delicious with a nice velvety smooth consistency.
It was an all-out stellar meal. We were glad we had so many people so that we could order so many different dishes and try so much. We will definitely need to try more on the menu, but we will have to repeat some of them again since they...
