If you're looking for a fantastic Japanese restaurant in Albuquerque, Tamashi is definitely worth a visit. One of the standout dishes was the Avocado Bomb, which was absolutely delicious. The creamy avocado paired perfectly with the spicy tuna and crab meat, and the dish was beautifully presented. However, I was not as impressed with the Takoyaki. It seemed like it was cooked from frozen, which made the texture a bit off. On the other hand, the sushi rolls were outstanding. We ordered the Philadelphia, Vegas, and Volcano rolls, and they were all fresh and packed with flavor. The combination of ingredients was perfectly balanced, and the presentation was beautiful. Another aspect that stood out was the exceptional service we received from the staff. They were delightful and went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable experience.

We just had an amazing first experience at Tamishi. The ramen was delicious and the mochi was customized and a special treat. Dez, our waiter to do some self instead we work as a team to take care of you. He wasn't lying. We had three people waiting on the set included the manager. Later we met the kitchen manager, Bou, who is already taking this restaurant to the next level. I asked if they had a curry based Tonkutsu and Bou actually took care of that for me and what a wonderful bowl of ramen. Bou was kind enough to come introduce himself to us and shared his 30 years of Japanese culinary experience and his recent move from Denver. He's going to add some items to the menu such as wagyu beef and duck livers and you can tell he's excited about taking this place to the next level. This will be our new favorite place to eat for sure!

Ive been eyeballing this place since I moved back and I am pleased to say they did not disappoint!! I started my meal with a grand duchess white hot tea and cucumber salad. The tea wasn't super hot but the flavor was smooth and not at all bitter. The cucumber salad was very different from other places but it was deliciously crunchy and tart! I always order the tonkotsu ramen at every new place I go to. This one was fullbodied, had a light layer of oil on top that coated the noodles perfectly. The noodles were firm and springy, beautifully coated in ramen broth. The chashu was a little smaller than I'm used to but the flavor that was packed in each bite made me forget about the size. The seaweed in the ramen made it feel like a miso soup! Overall, I am wildly impressed that a place like this opened in Albuquerque.

Never again. My daughter and I went to eat dinner here this evening and we ordered lots of food. When her miso soup came out, it was ice cold and extremely salty to where we couldn’t even eat it. Not a huge deal. It was just a side soup. I ordered the Japanese curry. I tasted it and it tasted extremely salty as well. I tried another bite to mix it in to see if it was just a certain spot. It was absolutely super salty. You couldn’t eat it whatsoever. I called the waitress over and I told her this was really salty. She said I don’t know why it would be so salty. It’s just a powder mixed with water that we do. I let her know it was still entirely too salty and then I was sending it back. I gave her the plate back and then when it was time to check out, she told me she was still going to be charging me for the plate, but she would give me a 20% discount off that plate. I said I took two bites from it and I gave you the entire plate back Why in the world would you be charging me 80% of that plate When I sent it back barely touched. She said well our policy is if you even take one bite a bit we still have to charge you for it. I said how else are we supposed to know if it was salty or not if we didn’t have one bite of it. She said well that’s just the managers policy. I asked to speak with a manager and she never brought one to the table. She then offered 50% off off of that plate that I sent back, I said absolutely not. I gave you the entire plate back. It was terrible. Then another waitress came and gave me my bill. I said was it taken care of? She said yeah and then walked away. Manager never came I was never checked on, no apologies, nothing. The staff seemed miserable. Not friendly whatsoever. And the food was extremely salty. And the fact she told me their Japanese curry is just made from a powder and water mix proves that it’s not worth...

This was my go to place on the west side for good ramen. Was having a bad night and wanted to get my favorite food with my family. Their was a bit of a line so I walked in waited for a waitress and let her know I'd like a table for 3, and I saw some open chairs at the bar and sushi counter so I asked if they were open and she told me they were walk in seats and I could sit down at them immediately if I didn't wish to wait for a table. So I left the building for not even 10 seconds to inform my family our options and we opted to sit immediately at the bar. As I walk to the bar and get ready to let the kind waitress know what decision I made. A skinny male waiter with a hat walks by sees me walking to the bar, turns around and says in an exacerbated voice " Really guys! You know there's a lot of people waiting right now! Drawing the attention of a good bit of the restaurant. So a little taken aback I tell him that the girl waiter gave me permission and he just raises his hands and nods, and says " I got it " completely ruined my mood being yelled at and assumed I was some bad guy just seating himself becuase the employees don't communicate. Entirely unprofessional behavior. You should not push your bad mood onto others. And then walk away without an apology. I felt unwelcomed and felt like I was in a Hostile environment after that. I could not enjoy my food which tasted noticeably different than the last time i came in. So I am afraid they may have tampered with my food because after being yelled at I talked with my brother at the table about how mean that was. And how unprofessional it was to just assume and yell at a customer who did...

Finally found a restaurant that understands and executes the customer experience completely. Upon walking in I was greeted with a genuine smile, eye contact. When I sat down Mike immediately came over, advised me he would be right with, took my drink order, all while greeting customers as they were walking in (with the same welcoming actions and attitude). Mike too the time to make every table feel welcome and served. His communication skills are top notch, the knowledge of the menu was impressive and helped guide me to the rolls I was looking for. The meal itself was phenomenal, they also gave me delicious and generous portion SeaBass Sashimi....wow. A friend of mine recommended trying this spot, he knows how critical I am of today's restaurant ls....the majority of them could learn a thing or 50 from this operation. CLEARLY the owner takes care of the team, the team keeps the location spotless, including the latrine. Amazing, clean latrines, phenomenal guest interaction, top notch sea food, it's not often you find fish on display looking as good as it did today.

Mike, thank you for your exceptional service, your dedication to the customer experience and restaurant is fantastic. Please do not ever stop providing the exceptional service, regardless of where you work. To the owner. Thank you for creating an atmosphere that your team wants to be in, it truly has resulted in the best experience I've had in years! After today's visit, immediately I called my wife and made a date night to come visit your Westside shop...
