The Square — Restaurant in Alexander City

My family member rented this venue for a wedding, the actual ambience of the venue is stunning and beautiful, however the pettiness and lack of human decency from one of the owners, Vickie Herring, was appalling.

The event space was rented for a certain time and day, however she still allowed boutiques within the space upstairs to remain open, when this was brought to her attention, she stated “you only rented downstairs,” however the only way to get upstairs would be the front or rear exit, directly through the middle of the wedding.

She also previously discussed the availability of more tables if needed, however locked all the tables under a set of stairs, requiring us to call her, at which point she very begrudgingly came back and allowed the use of the tables.

She then attempted to withhold the return of the security deposit for “inappropriate behavior” because I knocked on the door of the boutique that was still conducting business to inform her the wedding started in a few minutes.

If you DO decide to rent this venue space, I would go over contractual details with a fine tooth comb, and I would plan on not getting your security deposit back or having to file a small claims suit in...
