JR’s Sportsbar and Grill — Restaurant in Alexander City

After eating at this place for many years I'm simply fed up with the greed. My wife ordered 3 sides totaling about 25$ . She does not eat marinara sauce so asked ahead of time to please put an extra Ranch in the order . When I got to the restaurant I checked as the bag came out to find out it had not been put inside . The man acted like this was a bother to him to walk 10 steps and proceeded to tell the younger guy at the register to charge me for the cups of Ranch . Now if I had been eating in like we normally do a bottle of endless Ranch would have been given to us . The food we got was also cold and not fresh . I simply walked out and gave the Ranch back and told the young man to have a blessed day . This is why it's hard to support your local restaurants when customers are treated like this . I think from this we can find a new place to do business with till...

Got there just before 2 PM and place had several booth already in use. My order was 2 teas, fried pickles, a hen house salad, chicken finger basket with fries and a side house salad. Pickles were hot and delicious. Wife enjoyed her hen house salad, I loved the chicken fingers basket and my side salad. Wait staff was great and kept the tea glasses filled for us. Only issue I had was this meal for 2 cost us nearly $40. A little steep for lunch with an appetizer, but we did get full and really enjoyed our food. We will go back but maybe not as often with prices that high. They should look at doing a lunch menu with reduced prices to encourage customers to dine with them. Maybe they are doing good business and don't need or want anymore customers and that works too. I'm not here to encourage the owners to change there business plan, just to inform the customers...

Can you call it a "Bar and Grill" when there is never anyone working in the bar? How this place is a "Sports" anything is a mystery to me. Where are all the TV's showing "sports"?

I've eaten here several times and have always felt like I was just giving away my money; no pride in the food that I could see. The BLT literally had two slices of bacon on it. If you ask for hot sauce to go with your mediocre chicken entrée you can expect to get promptly informed that it costs extra by an already irritated server.

There aren't many options in Alex City but there are certainly better ones than JR's. This place kind of stinks at the whole food/service/sports/bar side of being a "Sport's Bar & Grill". The AC locals who think this place is a 5 star establishment need to get out...
