I really wanted to like Little Cakes, but, unfortunately, we had a bad experience in January that was never resolved. 2 stars is likely too generous...
I ordered a white choc. raspberry cake for my partner's birthday and was dismayed that this particular flavor could only be purchased as a 2-tier cake for $30. We did not need a lot of cake, and the price we payed was especially disappointing when we realized that our order wasn't correct.
My partner's name was spelled incorrectly on the cake, and the sides of the cake were completely covered in blue sugar crystals. We were not informed of this, and the texture was akin to eating a piece of cake covered in sand- gritty. Additionally, there was only the slightest hint of raspberry.
I informed the young employee of the mistake, and she, in turn, informed me that the bakers had gone home for the day. After a lengthy phone conversation with her boss, she said she could provide us a $10 refund. I thought this ridiculous, as I would still be paying $20 for a cake that had an incorrect name on it (that I'd have to present for someone's birthday). The refund was given in the form of a Little Cakes gift card.
I asked if Little Cakes could at least provide us with candles to cover up the mistake, and, unbelievably, the price of the candles was taken out of the gift card we had just received. I was not given the gift card, which still had a balance, back because the employee said that the card wasn't registering with the system. I was told that I would be contacted to fix the mistake and never was, even after I reached out to Little Cakes through their website.
I'm not a "Karen" and am usually one to just "go with the flow". However, because of Little Cakes, I was embarrassed and disappointed that I had to come up short for the birthday of someone who means...
Read moreThe cupcakes are tasty but overpriced. Half the cupcakes are usually overcooked. If you buy 11 cupcakes you get one free. Thats what they tell you anyway. But they all have to b in the same box. The manager who might have also been the owner claims that the reason for this is because the boxes they use cost her $1.35. After explaining that no one there has ever told us that and we shop there weekly for parties, for work, for family etc. The manager refused to honor what her staff has been doing for quite a while. The boxes they use at this shop do not seal or help keep cupcakes fresh at all and the inserts hey use in the boxes do little in the way of keeping cupcakes from falling over. The manager was very clear that she had no desire to compromise and certainly made no effort to give a regular customer who spends a lot of money there any reason to spend another dollar of our hard earned money there again. When you consider the amount that each cupcake cost then figure in that usually 1 out of 2 or on a good day 2 out 3 cupcakes are overcooked along with the manager`s overall poor peopke skills, Little Cakes With Big Attitude will only continue to do the volume of buisness they do because there isnt much in the way of...
Read moreAs someone from out of town I recently decided to try the popular bakery with my family on our way back to Dallas, Texas about 3 weeks ago. As we were waiting in the drive through (which takes way too much time to begin with) we placed our order. After placing our order, the girl taking our order forgot to turn her microphone off and whispered “dumb ass” through the screen. I thought the drive through employee wasn’t speaking about myself as I had awhile to order due to a speech impediment and my wife reminded me that we waited so long already and everyone raves about the items this bakery sells so we should just stick with it. While we are eating our baked items, my wife finds a LONG HAIR in her cupcake. Absolutely do NOT recommend Little Cakes with...
