DISCLAIMER: I love mom and pop shops.
This place is located inside a really small lot. FYI it is a bit hard to find from the street. But if you are around during the day, this place closes pretty early, then stop by. They got some good sammies. I had accidentally stumbled upon them when my regular viet hangout ran out of eggrolls.
Let's get down to business.
GRILLED PORK SPECIAL Now this is a good sandwich. It has some sweet aftertaste but it is definitely delicious. KNOCK OUT! I will always order this sandwich when I have time on a lunch break. They do have jalapenos sometimes they just don't put them in unless you ask for it. I love that the have daikon in their house salad for the sandwiches. A lot of places now have taken them out to lower costs but having only shredded pickled carrots just isn't the same.
CHARBROILED BEEF This is similar to the pork special sandwich however it isn't as tender of a meat. Maybe because it is beef I don't know. It was just a little tough to chow down on at times.
EGG ROLLS One of my favorite things ever. I have an addiction. I will order twenty of these and just munch on them as if they were French fries throughout the day. They always have fresh piping hot ready to eat egg rolls. They do not come with fish sauce so order it if you like to dip like I do. Understand that you aren't getting served in restaurant with the sides of veggies to wrap. You are paying for each one. Go buy some vegetables if you want to wrap.
ICE COFFEE The go to drink is the ice coffee. It is not overly sweet and it definitely has a nice kick to it. Nice pick me up.
THAI TEA I am unfortunately not a fan of their thai tea. It isn't really sweet, they have to put some half and half in it or something. I wish it was better.
BAGUETTES They don't have the two foot long crispy baguettes like Mr. Baguette but it isn't bad. Grab some if you want to make some sandwiches during the week.
ALL IN ALL Come in and grab something for a quick fix to your Vietnamese food craving if you are around. Just be aware that this place is a really small shop. Sometimes the wait is long sometimes it is super quick but there just isn't a lot of waiting room. So you will have to just wait outside. They will holler for you when...
Read moreHands down the best Vietnamese sandwich in Southern California. Before I came to this sandwich shop, I thought I had my best banh mi at Banh Mi Cali in Rosemead. I have to tell you, this place has the best and most authentic Banh Mi sandwiches in the San Gabriel valley. As some of the yelp reviewers indicated that the Banh mi here reminded them of Vietnam. I have to agree. The taste of sandwiches are fantastic. I feel they are in par with the ones made in Saigon during my last year’s trip there. That’s why I was not surprised with the guy standing next to me in line telling me that he had come from Santa Monica to wait in line for the sandwich.
For those of you wanting to have a true experience of Vietnam Banh Mi, I highly recommend to get #8. The meat is tender and tasty. The sauce and pickle vegetables enhance the Banh mi flavor.
Craving for egg rolls? They have one of the best in town. The price is cheap. Get a dozen for lunch for your kids or yourself. This is a great side appetizer to go with the sandwich. Don’t forget to ask for a small cup of fish sauce to dip the egg rolls in.
The owner was nice and kind. She was very efficient getting our order done. She has an amazing memory. She knows exactly...
Read moreLike they say, early bird catches the worm! We were here quite early around 715am and yes even at that time there was a line. The lady in front of me ordered maybe 6-8 sandos, I only wanted two and because of her order I had to wait 15-20 mins, I heard the shop owner call out her number and I thought mine would’ve been ready since I was standing there patiently, I was surprised when I noticed she gave me the bag that was sitting here before the other person w a large order got hers? Why would she do that when my order was ready? How long was it there? Nonetheless, I was disappointed knowing I could’ve been on my way a while ago….
Try not to eat the sando in the car because damn crumbs were all over the place! But overall, the flavor and taste of the combo sando was delish, too bad they don’t add jalapenos in them. I prefer their other location but this wasn’t bad since I was already in the area!
Lets talk about the sando – Fresh, crunchy and flavorful. All the cold cuts were tasty especially with the house-made egg yolk mayo! Cilantro always brings out the herbaceous freshness, crunch from the cuke, pickled daikon and carrots and the pate pulls all the...
