Don Jose Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Aliquippa

When here for dinner with my boyfriend and a couple we are friends with. It was very good, the price is good for the quality and portion.

The location is sort of a hole in the wall, though anyone who knows good authentic Mexican knows that's EXACTLY what to look for! On a Tuesday evening at 630pm we only shared the restuarant with one other table which suggests they are not very busy most nights. Truthfuly given the quality it was surprising that the location was not busier hence my review... hopefuly I can help encourage you to try this place if your in the mood for Mexican!

Their guacamole was really good here, as was the huge fajitas I ordered (parrilladda mexicana). Also server was kind enough to point out guacamole salad came with my meal as I attempted to order an appetizer of it" he could have just made the money but this shows integrity.

If you like el campasino in Robinson you will love Done Jose's in Aliquippa, of course most authentic Mexican food restaurants are similar (not the same) in the same way many Chinese restaurants are the same... but not every cooks the food... same staple dishes or not... the same. Don Jose's for aliquippa has it going on and I'm happy we finaly...

Great small Mexican restaurant! It's not very visible from the road, though they did just put up a lit sign out front. It's in the same building as House of Hunan, but in the back, and facing the Subway.

I got in, ordered, received chips in about two minutes, and got my order three minutes later. All in all, it was less than 15 minutes (I eat quickly). I got a lunch combo of a quesadilla, taco, and rice for $6.95.

The restaurant was well lit, but not bright. Some music and a TV were playing. Several people stopped in and picked up their phoned-in orders. The dining-in part of the restaurant wasn't busy, but it wasn't dead either - just quiet.

Great place for some authentic Mexican food. Will be back for lunch in the future, and maybe to bring a date, too.

Update: I've returned many times for lunch. I always receive service with a smile, it's always fast, and always good. Their chimichanga is outstanding! Don Jose is now one of my top three lunch...

Good service and the best guacamole I've ever had. I've seen reviews that state this is "authentic" Mexican food. I have no way of knowing, but I do know what I like. The service is quick and polite, and the food is good. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that the ground beef tastes....weird. I can't explain it, but it has an off taste. I think it's some kind of seasoning or oil. I'll definitely go back, but will stick with menu items that aren't beef.

Edit 8/25/18: Still great service and tacos. Guacamole is not what it one was. Also, salsa is bland.

9/5/19: A year later even the tacos have gone downhill. They drip some sort of grease when you pick them up. The salsa is like red water with no taste. Probably...
