I am on a fast food diet. I use my kitchen only as a pass thru to the living room. After 10 year's of eating at all the fast restaurants I think I am highly qualified to review Wendy's.
First the marketing is wildly confusing similar to Burger King in many ways. Who the Hell is Wendy? Was it Dave''s daughter? Is Dave still alive? They must tell us over and over again to gain an identity. Eating is intimate. We need to know who''s house were eating at. Thank You.
As far as consistency goes I would rank Wendy's third. BURGER KING is the most consistent followed by McDonald's and then Wendy's. In the preview they said Wendy''s is known for their shakes. They have what is called a frosty. It is thick soft serve ice cream basically. You have to eat the drink with a spoon. It melts around the sides unless the ambient temperature is 40 degrees or less. Winter is not the best time to consume things that are cold but if it were the Frosty would be the perfect treat when the temperature was under 40F. Vanilla was added in the last few years previously Chocolate was the only flavor. From a dessert perspective I would rank Wendy''s last tied with Subway. Five Guys now has shakes.
The burgers are juicy and tasty. But stay away from the dollar menu trap. The meat is highly modified at every place coming from the dollar menu's. One bite tells me that you need to get a single or double or whatever. If you can't afford to stay off the dollar menu then eat at a gas station instead. It will be better. I have eaten at gas stations thousands of times. Not that big of deal.
Considering the food only I would rank Wendy''s second only to Burger King. Burger King should be on your menu. It handily tromps every fast food restaurant in every catagory. Dessert is the Stawberry shake which goes beyond all fast food into Dairy Queen territory. Thanks...
Read moreComment: I never give fast food restaurants an excellent rating. Why? Well, it's fast food and like ALL fast foods they are designed to appeal to every palate, are loaded with fat and salts, sweeteners and preservatives. Yum. Just like Mom used to make. Not.
Let's face it. . .this type of food is F U E L. It's designed to keep you going on a trip and satisfy your appetite without a fuss, at home. No fast food is healthy. All fast foods are a necessary evil of modern life. They should never be the routine fare on the family dinner table.
Having said that, here is my opinion on this Wendys.
Food: very good. If you've been to one good Wendys. . . welcome back!
Service: Before you leave, CHECK YOUR BAGS! They were short-staffed and got our orders wrong. Twice.
Cost: it is what it is. A full order for two people is...
Read moreRemember the days when it took 2 hands handle a Whopper? Remember when eating a Big Mac was actually filling? Now it seems most of the iconic fast food places have figured out a way to give us less but charge us more!
Well I am glad to say that in the fast food burger world Wendy's has been a model of consistency single...double...triple burgers are still available on the menu and are all delicious and deliciously filling and I still do the ol' school dunking the fries in the chili thing!
While so many things around us change nostalgia fondly recognizes when some things remain the same.
When it comes to ol' school fast food burger restaurants....Wendy's has my vote and is my destination of choice.
The...
