Went here on Friday November 1st 2024 with some family to celebrate a special event. I can't remember if i've been here before but it is a beautiful place. It is an Italian restaurant with elegant tableclothes and napkins. The whole restaurant has an italian vibe to it. At this restaurant, one can bring their own alcoholic drinks like wine, liquor, whatever one wants! As a party, we also had our own waters. Loved the fried Calamari appetizer! Perfect taste, not too crispy, and just to my liking. Now what the party did was preorder some appetizers- like fried calamari, meatballs, and mozzarella and peppers (an italian thing!) Bread was also very good . We then was able to order from the menu anything we wanted. I decided on the penne ala vodka. They also have a gluten free option, which is helpful for someone with a gluten sensitivity which we had in our party. Others ordered the chicken samboita, sertino, and other dishes. Menu wise they have a variety of options- fish, salmon, chicken marsala/ franchaise, sortabata, and many options, plus one can get veal as well. Dinners come with salad. for some reason i didn't like the salad as much, but the rest of the people in our party did. Our waiter was very good at refilling our drinks, as well as taking our orders, and clearing plates off the tables. Food came in a timely manner and everyone's food did come out at once, and at the same time. I very much enjoyed my penne ala vodka. Others also enjoyed their food. Server also did a good job checking on us and making sure our food was okay, and it was great! When everyone finished eating, we were handed the dessert menu, and a couple of us ordered coffees, and one ordered a slice of cake, and i had a scoop of chocolate ice cream. i thought it was cool to have both chocolate and vanila ice cream as a menu choice, because some people do prefer chocolate. Ice cream was good and creamy and very enjoyable. Then we were handed the check, paid via a credit card, and left the tip on there i believe. Also used the restroom, and it was very clean. Beware though that it is a single restroom, so one may have to wait if it is occupied. restroom was very clean though. We definetely enjoyed and would come back if we are...
Read moreI had my children's first birthday at Mezza Luna in Allendale. I spent weeks preparing and making sure that every little detail was perfect. My twins were born at 28 weeks and have gone through so much this past year and yet they are super healthy, strong, happy babies now! So as you can imagine this was a big deal to celebrate. Our party was set for 12-4pm as a private party upstairs weeks in advance. The day before I called to check in and they say we need all cash to pay. Banks were closed so my husband had to run around to atms trying to get out what we needed since there are limits per day. Then I get there in the morning with my mom to set up and the owner tries to set up tables reserved for outside guests (they would've had to walk through our party to be seated). He gave me a hard time on that one but finally gave in. Then the food was completely rushed, if you weren't seated, your plate was taken away. I didn't eat the salad course, finish my entree or try the dessert since I was up constantly with the kids. The wine I brought to serve was dumped into buckets before people were done and the cake (which wasn't presented to sing happy birthday to my kids) was sliced and served by 2:30. Thank goodness we had brought cupcakes so we used those instead. All the tables were cleaned around us and reset for the dinner rush by 3pm when our party was til 4pm. The owner was extremely rude and insisted that this was normal. I'm sorry but no, my guests and myself felt completely unwelcome and it was super rude to push us out when we paid for a party from 12-4. Everything about our experience at Mezza Luna in Allendale was awful. But to ruin my kids' first birthday party and be rude on top of it when I brought it to his attention was too much. I would never recommend Mezza Luna to anyone in the future especially if you're planning a party. Save yourself the headache and all...
Read moreI visited this restaurant multiple times since it was first recommended to me about three years ago. The reasons for my loyalty and why I always go back are:
The food - after many visits, the menu at Mezza Luna Bistro always impresses. Besides their standard menu, the specials menu has also never disappointed. The food here is not just "good", it is a truely delicious cuisine that is plated and presented wonderfully. When it comes to taste and quality, the spread at Mezza Luna Bistro really exceeds the expectation.
The atmosphere - this is a great venue to cozy up with family and friends. There is a main dining room, an additional downstairs party room and outside seating - something for every size occasion or preference in a very clean kept orderly fashion. Mezza Luna has that real authentic warm welcoming feel that you cant find just anywhere.
The service - having some restaurant experience of my own, I am always on the prowl for great food matched with great service - I feel service is equally as important as the food - as the service interaction is really the first impression which lasts a lifetime. The Mezza Luna Team does a phenominal job at literally catering to your every need. The owner has done a fine job with his service Team. They are sharp and attentive, balanced by what seems to be a strong back of the house, which always makes for a positive dining experience. The Team here never goes into the kitchen, or comes out of the kitchen without something in their hands - that says alot to me.
BYOB - you can bring a bottle of something to enjoy with your food, your family and your friends. Red or white, there is always a perfect match of cuisine waiting for me at Mezza Luna Bistro.
For a great night out I would highly recommend visiting and taking in all the above...
