I wish I had better things to say about this place, but it has really gone downhill. When Uno Mas initially opened, we overlooked many things, because the food was good, but times have changed. Every time we come, the restaurant is completely empty or maybe one or two tables. Yet, when we request a table by the window, they say they are for a party or reserved, yet in the 90 min we are there, no one comes in. And reserved for who, the pope? I have also seen them turn people away with no reservation yet, no one is in there..beyond my comprehension. No reason to do that. Please teach your staff to open a bottle of wine. This is BYO and servers should be able to do this without breaking the cork or taking 5 min to get the bottle open. Secondly, every time we have come in, we have had to request new silverware because they are filthy, and wine glasses are also dirty, with lipstick stains on them. Honestly, this has been happening since day one, but overlooked, when in reality if every dish is dirty, then, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. But, the real reason people frequent a restaurant is for the food, and this has gone drastically downhill. For starters, the guacamole is about 70% onion and unripe tomatoes over cold, unseasoned and also under ripe avacados. The chips used to be good, but last two times they were soo oily and soft, which means the oil they fry it in isn’t hot enough and no salt. The tacos have also changed. The shrimp tacos used to have large shrimp in it and fill up the whole tortilla, now there was 3 or maybe 4 little baby shrimp, the cheap frozen type kind that were way overcooked, and all empty tortilla. Such a let down, as were the scallop taco, which was no longer a large scallop but instead half the size and were overcooked. Now they are charging way more for single tacos, for half the filling and sub par ingredients. The grilled salmon was also way over done and over priced. I hate to write bad reviews, but I hope the right people read them and make some changes because if not, I don’t see this place staying open for...
Read moreThis is a cute restaurant, chic decor. Service is attentive. Prices are okay, a little on the high side for some things. They serve mocktail margaritas for $10 and we went to the liquor store next door for tequila and then poured it into the drinks ourselves. They even give you shot glasses to pour it into. The mocktail is pretty sour though and not very flavorful, mine was strawberry basil but didn't really taste like strawberry or basil.
Small seating area, backs of chairs kept bumping into each other and it's hard to walk to your seat when the place is busy. Also the tables are uneven. One table was slanting to the side a lot.
The guacamole and the calamari apps were great. Big portions and delicious. Guac was very fresh and well seasoned, the calamari I loved how big the pieces were, super tender and had a spicy sauce with it that had sautéed almonds which added a nice crunch. And lots of shishito peppers on top.
The entrees were average. They got the temperature wrong for my hanger steak. It was still tender and juicy but I didn't like the green sauce on it. Which was spicy and vinegary. The potatoes added nothing to the dish in terms of flavor or texture, I barely ate them. The tomato and avocado salad was good, light and tasty. They served it with corn tortillas but the tortillas are very gooey and bland. My husband liked his scallop tacos a lot. I tried one of his mushroom tacos and didn't like it. Again lots of vinegar, and also it wasn't all mushrooms it had peppers and leeks in it.
The desserts were pricey at $12 and pretty average. Nothing special. The churros were dry.
I give this place a 4 because I loved their apps and it has a nice vibe despite being cramped. And wait service was professional...
Read moreWe recently dined at Uno Mas, and while the food was very good, the overall experience was rushed from start to finish. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrées, and dessert — everything came out quickly, and each dish was delicious and well-prepared. The flavors were authentic and fresh. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in their food. Unfortunately, the service made the evening feel extremely hurried. When we arrived we were told that we had to be finished in an hour and 45 minutes for the next reservation. It set the entire experience off on the wrong foot. Servers started clearing plates while some of us were still eating, and we felt pressured to finish up even though we’d only been there about an hour and a half. For a full meal with multiple courses, that’s a bit too fast — especially when you’re trying to enjoy good company and great food. If you’re looking for tasty Mexican dishes for take out or don’t mind a quicker-paced meal, this spot delivers. But if you prefer to relax and linger over drinks and dinner during a long awaited girls night out, choose a...
