Upon knowing a few days ago that we'll be doing a quick getaway from NYC to Allentown to visit some family, I already started looking up the best restaurants in town and this was clearly a consistent favorite so I knew we had to excuse ourselves for a date night escape from the family. This was last night.

Our hotel was a $20 Uber ride going there and $45 ride going back. Yep we spent that much alone on the transportation, that's how much we wanted to try the place.

Reservations were easy. We were given a table at 8:30, welcomed warmly, noticed how all the wait staff were strictly in masks and also only allows customers wearing masks, a good sign during this new normal. Kendall was our server and she was friendly and had a great energy. Thanks, Kendall! Placed our drinks ( a glass of Cabernet & Sauvignon Blanc each) and some warm bread with butter were served. So good.

We had the fried calamari for starters, which was just okay, it wasn't as crispy and was a little soggy and felt it lacked a bit of salt. Tasted the house salad to try the homemade bleu cheese that everyone's been raving about. Delicious. I got the Broiled Seafood combination which was Lobster, Scallops, Sole Filet, Crab Stuffed Shrimp & Clams Casino with brown butter on the side. I really wanted to love this and I wish I was raving about it but for $40 per order, this felt lacking for me. I'm a seafood person and sadly, nothing stood out to me on this plate. My husband got the Fruits de Mers which is Lobster, Shrimp, Scallops and Crabmeat served in a Creamy Garlic Sauce over Linguine for $40. This was really good and thankfully made up for it, though I really wish I had a better meal, especially because we spent $65 for the Uber ride alone. It was honestly all the reviews that pulled me in.

I do realize how the Chef and the staff are working so very hard especially during this time so I give them full credit and still giving 4 stars. Could have been an off night for my broiled seafood plate....

Visiting Henry's Salt of the Sea in Allentown is not just about enjoying the finest seafood; it's also about experiencing the exceptional service and the unique charm that the place offers. The culinary delights are outstanding, each dish showcasing the freshest ingredients from the sea. My wife, I and our friends choose to sit at the bar, reservations are recommended and to us what truly sets this place apart are Nikki and Frank. Their professionalism, combined with a genuine warmth, adds to the restaurant's inviting ambiance. They both contribute significantly to making every visit memorable. The restaurant, with its cozy and unpretentious vibe, perfectly complements the impeccable service provided by the staff. It's this blend of delicious food, atmosphere, and friendly faces like Nikki and Frank that make Henry's Salt of the Sea a must-visit destination in the Lehigh Valley. Alongside its stellar seafood offerings, Henry's Salt of the Sea also impresses with its exquisite steak entrees. The Steak Tyrolean and Steak Au Poivre stand out with their rich flavors and perfectly cooked tenderness, catering to the tastes of meat lovers. The homemade soups at Henry's are a culinary delight in themselves, each bowl brimming with hearty, comforting flavors that warm you from the inside out. These dishes, combined with the restaurant's exceptional seafood, create a diverse menu that promises an unforgettable dining...

Hidden Gem of Allentown except for the inside. Seating of booths and tables are so close together there is NO social distancing in this restaurant. If you don't like up close proximity to your neighbors stay out of this Mouth watering restaurant it will be your loss and someone else's gain! When we live Emmaus PA we frequent this place at least four times a year. We knew it was superb so coming home to the Valley, it was a must to stop in. Absolutely YES, reservations are required and ONLY show up 15 minutes prior to your time for reservations. outside the building looks unkept, inside the building not much better as previous stated. No parking lot must park on mm streets in front of neighborhood homes. All 4 meals came home with each us and Birthday spouse was able to pick free dessert on them, 😲 wow! We all sang n he picked the four layered carrot cake with cream cheese icing. WILL return here when back in the Lehigh Valley/ Allentown

Inside Atmosphere needs work for many years but very clean! The Food is outstanding no matter what is served to you, big platters nothing below $30. See pics of our meals mine was a pasta fish combination called Fruits De Mer fish perfectly cooked only given half of a grilled 4 oz lobster tail. That was a bit disappointing to get only 2 oz of lobster and I had them put the crab meat on the side as I...

After what felt like months of trying, I finally scored a last minute reservation at Henry’s Salt of the Sea a small, always-booked spot in Allentown that I’d been eager to check out. I lucked out with an 8 PM table the same day I called. When my wife and I arrived, the place was packed and lively. We waited a few minutes at the door before being seated, and from there, the experience was flawless. Our server was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had, extremely attentive without being overbearing. We started with drinks: I went with a chocolate peanut butter Old Fashioned, and my wife had a lemon drop martini. Both were on point. For appetizers, she had the colossal lump crab with warm butter, and I ordered the bacon wrapped scallops with a brandy sauce. Both were phenomenal and plated beautifully. The main courses didn’t disappoint. I went with the swordfish special, and my wife chose the classic surf and turf. Everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and lived up to the hype, something that’s rare and refreshing these days. To wrap it up, I ordered the house made crème brûlée and a coffee. No complaints there either, just a great ending to an incredible meal. I can confidently say that Henry’s Salt of the Sea was worth the wait, and I’m already looking forward to the next visit.

This establishment seems to be frequented by loyal locals. The ambience gives old school there are paper place mats booths with wooden benches. For the price I would expect white table cloth service. Any who on to the details the hostess was busy and cordial. A seasoned woman not charismatic has her best hosting days behind her. We order a couple of appetizers I will only rate the one we ate trying not to be negative, the mussels in butter sauce were plentiful however the butter sauce was extremely oily. I’m accustomed to a light butter and garlic sauce but we used the sauce to dip our bread which was more suitable. The two entrees in the photos are the seafood platter and the Walleye fish. The seafood platter received a good review by my partner with an inexperienced palette but I did try one of the scallops an it was a little gummy. The walleye entree the fish was soft and moist not over cooked with tomatoes and mushrooms in a creamy butter sauce that was light. It tasted fresh not a lot of herbs or salt. The mash potatoes were good and the vegetables were steamed al dente in their natural state. All in all the food was not bad but I found the quality vs the price $110 for food only, I don’t see the value in returning.
