Sarandonga — Restaurant in Allentown

Went here for Spanish food and the experience was terrible. When my boyfriend and I walked in the door, they gave us a weird look. Then we were seated and we couldnt even look at the menu, almost like we were being rushed. We stopped to get Spanish food because thats mine and my boyfriends thing. The menu was outrageously priced. Once we ordered we waited a decent amount of time for our food. Everyone who looked Spanish or of minority was constantly checked on and we weren't checked on until the end. They never checked on us while we were eating, they took the empty plates with attitude, didn't ask us how anything was, and each time our server interacted with us you can tell she wasn't happy. I ordered shrimp with penne in tomato sauce and it was supposed to come with parmesan cheese (which they forgot). The waitress didnt look happy we asked her for the cheese and the menu said $24, we were charged $29. I only got 4 shrimp. I ordered coca cola and it came in a can, a small one at that with a plastic cup. We were charged $2.50 & my boyfriend wanted lemon water which they gave us a bottle of water, lime (not lemon), a plastic cup and was also charged $2.50. They force you to tip in the total, which our waitress didn't deserve due to her lack of actual service. Food was not worth the money at all, way too high in price for the quality, and lack of service. We also waited over 10 minutes...

If you want horrible service and mediocre food, then this is the place for you. We were the first to enter the restaurant on an early Sunday afternoon and after a 2 hour wait, we were told that my husband’s main course was unavailable (right as the food for everyone in our table was arriving!).

Prior to that, we had called one of the restaurant owners over to our table to ask about the status of our food and instead of being empathetic, she told me that she was also waiting on her food and was hungry because she hadn’t eaten!!! But she had family members sitting in 2 separate tables who arrived an hour after we did and received their food well before we did… absolutely ridiculous.

When our food finally arrived, it was not even good - not worth that super long wait or the price AT ALL.

I will commend the server on the other hand who was very helpful, and empathetic and after checking on the kitchen several times for our food, he apologized for all of the issues and seemed very sincere. Needless to say, we will never...

Food was "Dee-Lish"! It was hot and tasty. I had a coconut mojito for the 1st time and it was so tasty, the combination of the lime, simple syrup, coconut milk, was spot-on! It's a small restaurant attached to a club. Our waitress was very sweet, but didn't speak much English. There were a couple draw backs. A fee for paying by credit card, and a tip (22%) automatically added to the bill (we were only a party of 2). So I docked a star on service for those reasons. The music was very appropriate for a Latin restaurant, but a tad loud for my tastes. Also, there is a charge for water, and there is nothing given to gnosh on while you wait for the food--no bread, or chips, or anything. Thankfully the appetizer arrived quickly. Steer away from the coconut shrimp. Definitely came from frozen, super thin, super bland. Not a good showing. But the meal made-up for that. The grilled octopus with finger potatoes was awesome. It's definitely worth the extra money...
