I've been a frequent visitor to this wonderful establishment for the better part of my adult life. The food is fresh, the correct temperature, and always tastes fantastic. Every time I visit the staff is so friendly, helpful and engaging, I feel like I'm eating at a friend's house as opposed to staring into space while waiting in some giant, mindless, slow moving food line just to receive my incorrect order. Here, they actually know my name, what I like to order, and ask me how I'm doing. My friends and I often kid that if there was a "cheese steak award" that Sewards should receive it with honors! Although I am obviously a huge fan of their cheesesteaks, I was recently introduced to their Caesar salad, most notably the chicken Caesar salad, which is fantastic and is why I felt compelled to write this review. I challenge and question the taste-bud-credibility of anyone who would choose a "Wawa salad", aka gas station salad, over a fresh, delicious, made right in front of you, not shipped to its location salad, for just about the same price. Don't get me wrong, I like Wawa, I just don't order the food there. So, all in all do yourself a favor, stop by this very unique, very clean and very delicious food getaway to take the "cheese steak award" challenge and see if you agree with me that there should be an award and it should theirs!
A personal side note: Michael Sewards -owner- is a very admirable man who donates a large portion of his time in order to film, document and archive the personal stories of veterans with his Lehigh Valley Veterans History Project. I have personally attended several of the live events his group hosts once a month and can say the stories that are told are absolutely amazing. Equally amazing is the work he and his non-profit group do to assist and support our countries finest, organize the events, secure the venue and the speakers for the events, promote awareness and all the while raising the money to pay for the whole thing. Oh, and not to mention the bus trips they organize -and fully fund- to take WWII veterans to the WWII memorial in Washington D.C. So, for having "award-winning cheese steaks" -and chicken Caesar salads-, a fantastic establishment and all the work he does with and for veterans, Michael Sewards is truly a patriot and Sewards Steak Shop gets a very well deserved,...
Read moreNortheast Philly born and raised just moved close to here in the Macungie area. Made the trip and boy am I glad I did. THE BEST CHEESESTEAK in the Lehigh Valley easily the best and can compete with the top cheesesteaks in the Greater Philadelphia Metro area as well. These cheesesteaks are loaded with fresh ribeye everything is top quality and taste is on point easily is one of the best and most legit spots for cheesesteaks and I've tried a lot of spots over the past year. The newcomer gimmicky sandwich spots(smp market, mortys etc) cannot and I repeat CANNOT compete with this OG classic right here. I really hope they open more multiple locations that way I can just go right next to my house for one. This place knows how to make some of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had and that is saying a lot right there coming from a guy who has had a plethora of different style cheesesteaks throughout his life, Everything from the right choice of roll (which I believe they use fresh Liscios rolls) to the quality of beef to cooking with love. They just make it the right way and hit a home run everytime, will definitely be one of my go-to spots. Amazing cheesesteaks : ))) not just for this region but any region this is a top quality contender cheesesteak....
Read moreThis restaurant is located in an old neighborhood where the locals seem to frequent. We were traveling from Massachusetts to Louisiana when my wife said she wanted a cheesesteak sandwich when we entered Pennsylvania. She looked on line and found two locations. We chose the older of the two establishments.
My wife and I both ordered the cheesesteak with Cooper cheese. She add crinkle cut fries and I added a side of pierogies. The meat was delicious and plentiful. The cheese was melted on top with a marinara sauce poured on top of that. I had the peppers with the pickles on the side while my wife no peppers. The soft bun was simply amazing.
As we sat at the counter watching the sandwich artist at work, I was impressed with the care and detail that went into everything that was made there. It reminded me of me making sandwiches at home, truly impressive to watch.
We definitely left with our bellies full, a box with leftovers for later, feeling like we hit the food jackpot. It’s not a fancy place, there’s not a lot of service, but find better quality and taste will be hard to do.
We also enjoyed seeing all of the local stopping...
