Reserved a table at Figs for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend, based on reviews; we are new to the area and have been trying different steakhouses around town, especially those that offer gluten free options (Figs does). Told our server, Kat, that my girlfriend is celiac and asked that she keep everything gluten free. We started with a Caesar salad and asked that they keep the croutons off the dish. Salad came to the table ten minutes later covered in croutons so I asked Kat if she could fix it. She was apologetic and took the salad to replace it.. or so I thought. Salad came back quickly and still had a few croutons and plenty of crouton crumbs. They had clearly just quickly removed what was there rather than making a new one, but my girlfriend didn’t want to make a scene and elected to pass on eating it to avoid the chance of getting sick. We then ordered our entrees.. a filet mignon medium rare w a lobster tail for her (asked for scallops but they were already sold out - no biggy), and I asked for a medium rare New York strip. Steaks came out about twenty minutes later and it was clear that we were both given New York strips, no filet mignon like we had ordered for her. I asked the serving assistant if he could grab our waitress and when she came by she told us it was her fault and offered to “let us eat it and charge us the filet price..” I thought she was kidding at first, but she wasn’t. The $6 up charge certainly wasn’t worth eating a steak we didn’t order (my girlfriend’s favorite steak is the filet) so I asked that she correct it. She came back a few minutes later and said we were lucky and there was another filet ready to go. I had waited for my girlfriend to get her food before I started eating myself. I cut into my NY Strip and it was barely pink inside, arguably more medium well than medium even (I ordered medium rare). I waved Kat down again and she was clearly irritated with me and told me “I guess I can take it back if you don’t want it.” Paying $60 for a steak, I’d like to receive it how I ordered it and asked that she fix it. I also asked if I could speak with the manager as it appeared we either weren’t being taken seriously, or there was something off in the kitchen that night. The owner came over and apologized letting me know that it was busy that night due to the holiday and that my steak would be fixed. My girlfriend felt bad eating in front of me but we didn’t want her steak going cold while they cooked me a new one. Less than five minutes later a new NY strip came to the table. The owner asked me to cut into it and, although it was medium rare, it was incredibly apparent that it had been flash cooked/nuked and even my steak knife had trouble getting through it. The steak was very chewy and to be honest I was just over the experience at that point. Before we left they brought out two small glasses of champagne and joked that we should end on a positive note. They comped $20 worth of drinks and ultimately I paid over $200 for a salad my girlfriend couldn’t eat, a steak cooked incorrectly.. twice, the wrong order placed in front of us, and an overall disappointment on what was anticipated to be a great evening out celebrating V day. The funniest part is that was got to watch the owner and the chef eating a steak at the bar while we waited for ours to get corrected. Very poor experience and will not be returning. The only reason I didn’t give them a 1 star is because the ambiance in the restaurant was nice and I could see it being a good date night spot if the service and food...
Read moreSo I visited Fig's as part of the magical dining experience with my friend. It is in a bit of an awkward location just off the I4 but the GPS found out easily and took me to the front entrance. Parking was easy but be warned there are not a lot of parking spaces. The place is beautiful inside and definitely a place for a romantic dinner or to celebrate a special occasion. Upscale but not pretentious, but you do need to dress nicely to match the ambiance. The waitress was lovely and had a lovely smile and greeted us at the table promptly and checked too make sure we were happy with our meal. I chose the goat cheese croquette, filet mignon and tiramisu. My friend had the rib eye ( which you pay a little extra for as it's not part of the magic dining regular menu but it's nice that they allow you to upgrade your choices). Well I just about ate everything on the plate. The goat cheese was light, tasty with just that mild tang that you get from goat cheese but paired with the pear it balanced it well. The filet was like butter and soooo tasty. The temperature of the food was spot on. The mash potatoes tasted like real potatoes and was flavorful. The veggies were soft but not overdone. There was a nice selection of California wines. That was my only gripe as I expected an eclectic selection ( you know French, South African, Australian, German etc) I think I saw one Chilean wine. Anyhow despite that the wine was really good and you can have a six or nine ounce glass which is nice to have that option. I liked the tiramisu.. Is it the best I've tasted?.. No but it was nice and light and again well presented and tasty. So let's talk price.. So obviously you need to have the credit card handy as it is up there. Really for what you get it's worth it. Position sizes are to European expectations but the huge USA options, 🤣🤣 you leave feeling satisfied. So all in all it was under $140 with the extra and wine extras. I was surprised there were no dinner rolls.. But I guess you can't have everything but that's a suggestion. I did notice some lovely Boothes with gorgeous curved chairs in the corner and there are large windows so you get that indoor/outdoor feel. Would I go again at full price... Yes indeed but limited to birthdays and special occasions or else it would add up price wise for those on a budget. Not really a place to bring kids but there was a child there but to me it's more adult dress up affair or casual smart. Looks like you can even pop in for a quick cocktail...
Read morePosted on FB restaurant review about a week ago asking for some reviews for Fig prime.... Thank you for encouraging us to go. I am here to blow them out of the water. Our experience was top notch. Kat the manager and Leo our server went out of their way from start to finish to make our family matriarch's 80th celebration one that we will never forget. From the minute we walked in and I handed Leo our cake and candles everything went perfectly and smoothly. Complimentary bruschetta on small round pieces of toast was put on our table....yummy ( It is an item you have to request) The dinner was superb there was not one out of eight that was not extremely happy and satisfied at the end of our meal. Several ordered lamb chops, a couple ordered the Chilean bass as was suggested in the comments on this page. Salmon, steak, pasta were amongst the orders. The salads were huge and so fresh. I got the Caesar salad which had generous amounts of shaved Parmesan pieces as well as croutons.....dressing was outstanding..( minus anchovy by choice)... My nephew who is really a picky eater devoured his wedge lettuce salad, with delicious blue cheese crumbles, blue cheese dressing, bacon, tomato relish, sunflower seeds. Other family members had the outstanding spinach salad. Everybody had a clean plate ❤️ At the end of the evening Leo was amazing, he brought out the cake with the candles already lit. Kat the manager came over with complimentary glasses of champagne to toast. Leo took pictures and was so patient while we moved around to find the right spot and he clicked away. The ambience was wonderful the amount of lighting was perfect. We will definitely go back, so much so that I asked for the manager above the manager to contact over the week because our experience was second to none. Food was out of this world everybody devoured everything. Everything was fresh, hot, and delish. Thank you Kat and Leo for giving us a night to remember. We will definitely...
