So my roommate got me my dream cake for my birthday except that it hardly looked like the cake I wanted. We ordered a cheeseburger cake. It's like the person making cakes was new to cake making and had no idea what a cheeseburger looks like. I could've done a better job. In fact I did, because I had to fix my own cake as it had a giant hole when I picked it up. I looked at it and the girl was like, "do you like it?" like girl there's a huge hole? I was in shock so I didn't say anything to my roommate until we got home since he didn't notice the hole and he's the one who paid so I didn't want to be ungrateful. the lady behind the counter also told me "I'm gonna make you do some manual labor haha I just don't want to tape this box back up" and gave me the tape for my $50 cake with a hole to tape up myself. even if it didn't have the hole it was still designed nothing like a burger. bits of what I assume was supposed to be lettuce were poking out from the patty and the lettuce itself looked like a leaf from a tree. It was honestly such a simple design I know Walmart could have done it but somehow Dukes messed it up and when my roommate wrote a review they said they'd call but told us it was our fault for not saying anything day of and won't give us a refund. I'd like to point out the taste wasn't amazing as there was more icing than cake. DON'T GO HERE I repeat do not go here if you want something that looks and tastes good.
EDIT: Since there is no way for me to leave a new comment I will leave this here - We did not speak on the phone last week, you spoke with my roommate. My roommate commented same day about the cake and was told someone would reach out to him but he didn't hear back that day, which is not our fault. Not to mention if we had given back the cake I would not have had any cake for my birthday thanks to you? My cake was not even placed in a fridge and you have those there, I saw them, yet you say the icing is heat sensitive. There is no need for a gift card as we are no longer interested in any products from this bakery, even free, as you feel the need to try and make this somehow our fault but we just wanted a nice cake and since you couldn't do that, a proper apology and a refund. I literally threw away the cake today because it was so bad we didn't...
Read moreLet me tell you, if there's anything that can coax a grin from this reserved face, it's a cracking good cake - and that's exactly what I found at Duke Bakery.
The cake, an exquisitely designed Rustic Flower concoction, was more than just a culinary delight. The sheer beauty of it was truly breath-taking. It was as if they had distilled the essence of a sun-dappled summer meadow and expertly sculpted it onto a sweet canvas.
The attention to detail was nothing short of phenomenal. Each petal, leaf, and decorative flourish on the cake was executed with an artisan's passion and a sculptor's precision. The union of the rustic and the floral was an eloquent expression of creativity and sophistication. So marvelous, in fact, that my wife couldn't bear the thought of slicing into it. That's high praise indeed.
But let's cut to the chase, shall we? The flavors didn't just sing - they performed a veritable symphony. The cake was mouth-wateringly delicious, with a delicate balance of sweetness and rich, indulgent undertones. The texture was pure perfection - soft and moist, yet firm enough to showcase a perfect bake. It was the kind of delicious that keeps you coming back for more, even when you're certain you couldn't possibly accommodate another bite.
Duke Bakery, with its Rustic Flower Cake, has achieved something spectacular. This dessert stands as a testament to their baking prowess and their passion for artistry. This cake was not just a treat - it was a masterpiece of beauty. One might even brave a tempest for another bite of this heavenly delight.
Duke Bakery is more than just a bakery - it's a sanctuary for those who value the harmonious blend of taste and aesthetics in the world of baking.
So, without hesitation, I heartily recommend Duke Bakery and their Rustic Flower Cake. This isn't just a cake - it's an edible piece of art that delights both the eyes and the palate. Make your way there and give it a try, I implore you. This is not just a cake, it's a sublime...
Read moreOne of the many things that Dukes does well is birthday cakes. I walked in and bought this cake without ordering. it was around $50 and was delicious, moist, and really set the tone for an impromptu birthday party. If you’re not looking for a birthday party, they have a large number of other items. They have a large variety of donuts. My favorite is jelly. There’s something about the jelly donut that is not like other places. it’s not too sweet and the donut is not too big and it’s the best jelly donut around. if you want glaze, they are awesome as well. the chocolate long Johns delicious and the pastries are excellent. If Donuts or birthday cake is not what you’re looking for, then go for the cookies. Good variety and excellent taste. Then there are the pies. Cherry pie is my favorite. if you’re picking up donuts after school when you pick up the kids, chocolate milk and orange juice are also choices. I’ve gone there before at 3 o’clock and had a good variety of choices. By the way I forgot to mention how great the bread is. My son has gone by on Sunday morning and brought some home after church. It’s an iconic location on Henry Street an old neighborhood a large variety of people go in And the people that are helping are so kind and helpful. I highly recommend Dukes if you are looking for any kind...
