This is one of those places where IYKYK. They've been reviewed well on at least one national show, but I'm always surprised when locals haven't been there. It doesn't look like much from the outside -- or really the inside, for that matter, but if you've ever found a hidden surprise, your Spidey sense will start tingling as soon as you spot the dilapidated old house at the back of a dirt lot. Of course, the line of people usually waiting outside for a table might give it away. It's main con is the size, there's limited seating, and often a wait, but even so, the staff has never made me feel rushed. The food is good, I always get the Burger from Hell, which triggers the other con -- not the burger, but the less than optimal ventilation over the grill, and those jalapenos really mess with my sinuses. The atmosphere is laid back shabby chic, old tin beer and gas station swag and photos almost lost among the numerous "Best in Amarillo" plaques on the walls. I usually try to set at the 2-seater next to the ice-filled, claw-footed bathtub that holds the beer selections, but the have booths that will seat 6 if you're all friendly. They only have one steak on the menu, but since it's a rib eye, I can't complain. The steak is by far the priciest menu item, Coyote Bluff Cafe isn't exactly cheap, but I think they don't charge as much as they could by any means. I'd say they're comfortably in mid-range, so plan for $20 or so per person Overall, I highly recommend the place and if you make it your go-to for taking out-of-town guests, they won't...
Read moreOkay, I based my trip here on the positive reviews. The reviews are well founded. My second indication that this was an establishment of renown was the dilapidated appearance of the building: a typical hole-in-the-wall joint with a parking lot full of cars. As you approach the entrance, you are greeted by a weathered plank decking and a boarded up front door. Stepping inside is reminiscent of a setting from days gone by, say a mercantile store, what with the wooden floors and barely enough elbow room to get through. Now here goes the food. I had the Old Fashioned Burger with bacon and a side of chili fries. The portions are fit for a lumberjack! The beef patty was at least half a pound and fresh ground. The fries were thin cut with the skins still on them, and the chili tasted homemade, although I don't know if it was. My beverage of choice was ice tea with lemon, and that was perfect, too. Moving on to customer service, Amy was our waitress and was very observant to attend to us. Considering that most of the tables were occupied, the wait time was better than average - not what I would have expected for a "custom" burger. It would have been worth a longer wait! Long story short, I would rate them 10 stars because 5 stars...

From the moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped into a place with real personality. The rustic, quirky décor and welcoming vibe make it feel more like a favorite local hangout than just a restaurant. But don’t let the casual setting fool you – the food here is next-level.
The burgers are incredible – juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The famous Burger from Hell lives up to its reputation (in the best way possible), and the green chile cheeseburger is an unforgettable flavor bomb. Portions are generous, and the fries and onion rings are the perfect crispy sidekicks.
Service is fast, friendly, and full of that authentic West Texas hospitality. You get the sense that the staff truly cares about what they do – and it shows in every bite.
