TLDR; Food is hot and fruit is fresh! Staff is beyond just customer service nice, it feels genuine. The atmosphere is slightly upbeat to help you wake up without feeling rushed.
First impression: Quaint, calm, and homey. The place feels like a good spot to relax while trying to warm up to the day. Seats look a little boring but the music and lighting are nice.
Food: I have been here many times now and have always ordered the Breakfast Plate. That's a Texas waffle, scrambled eggs w/ cheese, bacon and a hash-brown. Every time I have ordered this plate, it has come out the same way. The waffle is thick but airy so it's not too difficult to eat. It's crunchy and evenly browned on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The eggs, bacon, and hash-browns are always the exact same. Nothing worse then going in and getting great breakfast one day and bad breakfast the next. I can rely on their food to always be as good as it was the first time. I recently started ordering their fruit bowl. This fruit HAS to be hand picked by them before they serve it because I have never been served a single piece of fruit that didn't look perfect. They serve a variety of drinks including drip coffee, custom coffees/teas and adult drinks. I order their drip coffee which I expected to taste like Maxwell House or Folgers, as these small town "mom and pop" places usually do, but I was mistaken. This coffee was so good, so full-bodied and unique that I was confused. You can buy the coffee from their restaurant.
Service: They lack customer service. All they have here is friendship. These people have never served a stranger, I promise. I'm so used to the customer service act that their genuine kindness and good service almost came off as Smarmy. Just know they treat everyone with that same genuine energy and it's so real. You almost want to hug them when you leave like you've known them for a while.
Atmosphere: You walk in and immediately notice the warmth. The color of the lights makes the place "feel" like it's lit with natural lighting from the sun or something. I was concerned as I walked in because they have a ton of small bright lights hanging over head. The walls are all matte so the light doesn't reflect into your eyes. It just stays above you, much like the morning sun. The music is "hip" without being offensive and ranges from between now and 20 years ago. The aura here is such that you feel energy building up slowly while you listen to some soft music. The music is just loud enough that I can't make out what my neighbors are saying, but not so loud that I can't hear anyone. I dare say it's the "perfect volume".
Notes: They sell merch! I bought a hoodie that was very expensive. However, after putting the hoodie on I immediately realized it was not only inexpensive, but under priced. This hoodie isn't just made with a single sheet of fabric. It's thin and durable on the outside and the inside is lined with a thick fluffy coat. It's hefty and warm, as a...
Read moreMy husband brought me to the Golden Waffle Company in Amarillo a few years ago, it was nice but we hadn’t been back & we were in town today so he said let’s try that waffle place again. Let me tell you the minute we walked in we were greeted with the kindest smile and soul of this sweet woman, stood in line for a bit because it was busy but it wasn’t a bad wait at all and the staff did amazing and trying to clear seats for everyone very fast. The staff at the register and entire place were just upbeat, happy, & great at their job! The staff made it for me & I knew this would be my favorite place, but then looking at the menu I was amazed at all the cool/fun options and it was hard to decide what to order but what I did order was absolutely amazing. Best breakfast food I’ve had to date hands down. & the ☕️ coffee, oh I’m so sad that we don’t live in Amarillo to be able to come get their coffee and food all the time. & the price was great! Anyways, long story but we realized it was new ownership, they had signs that said 1 year anniversary, you can definitely tell a 100% difference in atmosphere and food because I didn’t really remember the experience eating here from a few years back, I don’t remember it being bad, but it wasn’t amazing for me to remember and ask to come back. But I will remember today’s experience (good enough to want to take the time to go on Google and write a review) We will be back when we visit...
Read moreWent in with an open mind and ready to find a new place for weekends with the kiddos…this place is not gonna be one of those places. Glad we didn’t bring them here. When we walked in, the dude at the front greeted everyone who was before us, and after us, but when we said hi and good morning, dude just dead eye stared past us and didn’t say a word.
Went in, ordered their rendition of eggs Benedict on a waffle but I’m not sure whoever made that dish actually knows what eggs Benedict is. The hollandaise sauce tasted like lemon sour and not actual sauce, the eggs were soft boiled and not poached, the waffle was like eating wet cardboard.
Couldn’t even finish it.
My friends waffle was not any better. How you manage to make a waffle taste dry as hell while still undercooking the inside is beyond me but it was impressive.
The bacon tasted like it had been brined by Moses himself in preparation for the walk out of Egypt.
During this entire time, the same dude that took our order walked over to every table around us and greeted them again while asking if they needed anything else and even offered to grab their stuff out of the way all while ignoring us as if we didn’t even exist.
Personally, I don’t care but my friend was a bit annoyed and we just regret even tipping at that point. 1/10- for $40+ tip, you’d think it would be a place you’d WANT...
