Sam's Southern Eatery - Amarillo — Restaurant in Amarillo

Hubby & I ordered here first time tonight. I ordered online through Google while shopping and then ran by to pick up. It was ready about 5 min past the eta which was no problem. They have a drive through and you pull up to the window and tell them your name. They do not have a speaker and frankly the exterior and drive through looked a bit sketchy. I was nervous that I made a bad call for dinner 🤣 The guy at the window was super friendly. He assured me there were sauces in the bags. When I got home and uploaded the bags there were containers with ranch dressing and a shrimp cocktail sauce and a creole style sauce. We ordered the entrée: 2 fish fried/6 shrimp grilled 3 fish fried/ 3 crab cakes fried/ 3 shrimp grilled (but received 5 shrimp) ❤ bonus pieces are always welcome! Both sides red beans and rice. Everything came out amaaaaaazing! We had an appetizer of okra/fried green tomatoes and they were perfect!! The grilled shrimp are a treat! Very tasty and have a few veggies grilled with them. A bit like a stir fry. Very yum!! Also portions are large! Definitely large enough to share or have left overs. Will definitely be trying them again! Hope y'all enjoy it as much as we did!

This was only my second time to eat here, but I must say that it was the most pleasant and satisfying meal that I’ve had in a long time!! I got the “Special “ that they are having for this whole month.. You can choose 3 out of 6 options.. I chose 2pcs of catfish, 3jumbo shrimp, and 2 crab cakes.. with 2sides! The catfish is to die for! 2big pieces of catfish, fried to total perfection! The 3 jumbo shrimp was so good!! And I’ve never had crab cakes, and they were so full of crb goodness!! Plus 2sides! I got the green beans, which are slightly seasoned with a Cajun seasoning? I wasn’t too sure about that, but when I got them they were fantastic! My other side was the Cole slaw! It was a bit sweet, very creamy and cold! I’ve never had such great Cole slaw before!! All for $13.99!! Our waitress was so happy and helpful! She kept my sweet tea always filled up, and their sweet tea is probably the best sweet tea I’ve had in a very long time!! The restaurant was clean, comfortable and our service was phenomenal!! I can’t say one negative thing about our entire visit!! And we brought home our leftovers for another meal!! I will most definitely be going back! This month they are having this Special, and I’m gonna go back to enjoy more...

Ivory was fantastic for the service. Good food that was hot and fresh. The hush puppies were my favorite. The chicken was okay didn't care for the breading. I feel like it needed to have different breading than the shrimp. It had very little seasoning in both the shrimp and the breading for the chicken. It is an old Burger King so the interior is a bit dated. They did add some boots to where it was more of a restaurant setting. Refills are supposed to be with your server, but they do have a place where you can refill free for drinks. I had a Coke which paired well with my order. The french fries were battered well and tasted good. Overall definitely recommend Sam's for an affordable dinner, lunch, or brunch. You will definitely get full! They also usually give you an extra shrimp if you order shrimp either grilled or fried. They do offer grilled options as well as fried options which is nice. A water cup with your order is $1. I feel like if you're spending the money to eat they shouldn't charge you for a water cup. Sam's is a great dining experience I...
