Little Athens Catering — Restaurant in Ambridge

Was recently given a recommendation to come here by a friend however, my boyfriend and I weren't super impressed. What we originally wanted wasn't available which wasn't a big deal but once we ordered and got our food we waited for a total of 45 mins which I felt was a bit too long. Then we got home and didn't even really like the food we ordered. My boyfriend and I both ordered the pastichio (Greek lasagna) which was a bit bland but had a little bit of a spicy kick to it from something but we both agreed that my greek lasagnawas much better. Also, the soup we ordered which was the traditional orzo lemon soup was seasoned with way too much pepper which was not our preference and it filled the bottom of the bowl when we drank the broth we got a mouthful of pepper. Depends on the day… mondays are $3 gyro days so obviously there’s a nice crowd. I watched as they completed orders and it was like a fast food assembly line. Gyro meat came from a pan that sat on the grill top pre sliced so the meat was pretty dry, fries were already done and refried to order. For a $3 gyro can’t complain much but I would not return for gyro day. If you can catch them open another day during the week, in my opinion the food quality is a lot better. Gyro meat gets cut off fresh so it’s still juicy and Fries are cut and fried fresh to order. I personally rather go on another day and spend the extra money to get better quality food. Had this food for the first time at the PDP March Nigh Markey in downtown Pittsburgh on March 18th. It was DELICIOUS!! There were a few food options here to choose from but we decided to go with this because we hadn't heard of them before and the people I was with are always up for trying new things, plus the deserts looked sooo good.
