I've been to Gourmandise a handful of times. Every time I order the almond horn which is absolutely amazing I like it better without chocolate because their chocolate is very waxy!! I've also ordered the passion fruit cake before which was very good My husband and I both liked it. Because of this I took my 14-year-old daughter there to get a birthday cake because we needed one very quickly! She ordered the raspberry vanilla cake that was new.. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!! đđ¤˘đ¤Ž Both my sons took one taste and gagged and spit it out in the trash! The rest of us just kind of picked through it to find something that was okay but the cake was super dry the chocolate curls tasted like somebody literally shaved wax off of a candle and the entire cake tasted like it absorbed all the disgusting taste from a fridge or a freezer that was not covered or transported properly. I called the store and asked to speak with the manager I ended up speaking with the floor manager who is very kind! â¤ď¸đ honestly I was very impressed with how wonderful she was. đđ She offered to refund me completely or give me a gift card with a little extra on the gift card to come back and give them another chance. I said we would take the gift card for now but I needed to bring my daughter back and have her try the other cakes to make sure it was something that she wanted. They asked if I'd bring in the rest of the cake so they could see what was wrong with it I told them that was fine cuz it was so disgusting we weren't going to eat another bite of it. đ¤˘đŤ˘ I ended up having to go in 2 days after the day I purchased because it was the anniversary of my husband's father that passed away the next day. đŞ They were still very kind receiving me and my daughter and I asked if I could just purchase a couple slices of cake so that my daughter could try it before we actually decided to buy another whole cake for her birthday party. Sadly neither she or I liked either of the cakes The Passion Fruit or The Chocolate Raspberry, it wasn't because we don't like moose cakes they just were very lackluster they were not as good as the first time I had tried them when the restaurant opened and the cakes were very dry! đ They just were not worth the price tag that they were putting on those cakes to sell. The managers even told me that the cake that we originally purchased was disgusting! that it had probably not gone through the proper preservation to keep it good while it shipped over because the cakes are frozen when they receive them. I told them the cake slices were just very dry and they just weren't as good as the the way they were when the store first opened. Both the store manager and the floor manager were very very kind and they refunded me completely for the cake that I purchased and they still ended up giving me the $15 gift card to come back and try their food! đđ they thanked me for being kind and for being willing to at least come back and give them a second chance. I think it takes a lot for workers to be very kind and humble and not try to shame or make the customer feel bad in any way. I was also very grateful that they did try the cake and admitted that it definitely was not good. I will continue to keep coming back to gormandies because I love the almond horns I will always buy them and I will come back and try their food simply because they were so kind and gracious about the mishap that we had with the cake. đđ¤ But I strongly caution anybody against buying a cake without trying a slice of it first and even then they know mistakes happen and you could get a frost burnt disgusting gross freezer tasting refrigerated cake like we did. Also they did say that they're discontinuing the raspberry vanilla cake because it does not sell well. đŹđ𫣠Thank you to both of the sweet managers your kindness was very much...
Read moreFood poisoning alert: they wont hold accountability even if you get sick from their food. (Reply) Peoples system have a hard time with passion fruit? Really? We both have had your passion fruit cake pieces before and almost all of your bakery menus. So I doubt this was our bodies reacting with passion fruit. This is beyond absurd how you are replying to this situation. Called the location AGAIN, this time spoke to Zoe. Even though I had requested a call back days ago while I was still out sick she mentioned no one had told her about this apparently. She said she is sorry and is NOW processing the refund for the cake and said this is all she can do. I feel like all of this bad experience could have been minimized if any of them apologized when we first told them the incident, yet no one had until this Zoe girl did and processed our refund on the cake that ruined the birthday finally. We wonât be returning back to this location.
Got food poisoning from their cake. We expected something better than this for a significant otherâs birthday. Got the queen emma cake the night before the birthday. Called them after being out sick all weekend and the counter girl who answered our call was very rude saying all the cakes are on the display for two days and there is no way someone should get sick from it. I feel like they should take food poisoning more seriously than this especially when they get the cakes made & transferred from somewhere else as they claim. Very disappointing how they handled this situation. After we sang happy bday and we both had a very small piece, I, having baked a few times & made frostings myself, did feel the frostings tasted weird and old. Not long after consuming, my husband started having diarrhea and so did I plus I have been throwing up all night. We still are frequently visiting toilet, very awful. My stomach still hurts and we both have no dairy allergies or food sensitivities. And this cake was the only food we bought from somewhere we ate that day. We had to toss the cake right away in the trash and 35 dollars to the trash as well. Update: 3 days passed, we have been waiting for the managerâs call back and called them twice for an update. Still nothing except telling us to wait for a comment on the review(what?!). Itâs quite concerning how little they care about food poisoning and getting their customers sick from their food. We have been frequent to both slc and af locations and we wonât be returning...
Read moreThis is a new location and I was super impressed with how well things went. The parking lot is small, so just be aware of that. (Having the drive-thru done will be a great addition). Anyways, itâs a super cute location (very classy and yet comfortable), the staff was amazing, and the food was delicious!
We went for a lunch adventure with our three young kiddos, which could have been a disaster, but the staff made it a very pleasant experience. Our server (Sam), the hostess (I forgot to get her name:/) and the Manager (Freddy) did an awesome job and catered to our needs. I have never had a meal here so I asked for some recommendations and they were spot on. Our kids loved their meals and we enjoyed ours as well.
This is what we ordered:
BRUSSELS SPROUTS [GF] - I have never been a huge fan, but they were actually my favorite part of the meal. They have a kind of chipotle sauce on them that makes them a little tangy, but not spicy and they were cooked perfectly (my compliments to the chef), cause I feel like thatâs hard to do.
FRENCH ONION SOUP [CAN BE MADE GF/DF] - This soup was the perfect addition for the cheese sandwich. It is a great balance for an onion soup.
SEVILLANO STEAK SALAD [GF] - this salad was very full-filling. It was so yummy and so satisfying. Itâs the kind of food where you know youâre full, but you keep snacking on it because itâs just that good. (Side note: I finished it a day later and it was still amazing.)
BLUEBERRY BALSAMIC GRILLED CHEESE - I was a little hesitant ordering this one, but I am glad we went with it. The balance between sweet and savory is a pleasant surprise. I thought it was super yummy and it was my husbands favorite part of the meal.
AND you canât go here without dessert, BUT we were super full, so we did a dessert taste test later with 4 other adults and we all loved a different dessert. Sam (our server) made some great recommendations and helped me know what to get by giving me a feeling for the flavors. We were thrilled by each dessert and all of us had a different favorite one. We got the Almond Horn (GF) (N), Chocolate Mousse, Peach (N), Strawberry Mille Feuille, Queen Emma, Tartelette: Raspberry Pistachio (N), & Individual Chocolate Decadence (GF). It was fun trying all the different flavors and delectable.
It was a great experience and great food. Highly recommend the location...
