My husband and I have been loyal customers for approximately 15 years. We absolutely love your restaurant and have frequently brought friends and family to dine with us. We’ve always had wonderful experiences—great service and excellent food—until our visit tonight.
This evening, we brought new friends to the restaurant and were left completely embarrassed by the service we received. The four of us placed our dinner orders. I specifically asked for a side of grated cheese to be brought out with my fajitas, along with a Diet Coke. Unfortunately, the waitress forgot my drink, and we had to ask two more times before it finally arrived.
Additionally, a queso appetizer was brought to our table—something we never ordered. When we brought this to the waitress’s attention, she realized she had misunderstood my request for grated cheese and thought we had ordered the queso. She apologized and told us to go ahead and eat it since it had already been served.
To our surprise, when the bill arrived, we were charged for the queso. We politely explained to the waitress that we didn’t feel we should be charged for something we never ordered. She went to speak with the manager.
When the manager arrived at our table, she informed us that we would still be charged for the queso because we had eaten it. We explained that we only ate it after the waitress explicitly told us to, since it had already been delivered. The manager then accused us of lying, saying the waitress had informed her we were told to send it back to the kitchen. That is absolutely false. All four of us calmly and clearly stated that we were told the opposite. Nonetheless, the manager insisted we pay for it.
Let me be clear: the issue is not the cost of the queso. I understand mistakes happen. What I do take issue with is being called a liar in front of my husband and our friends, and being wrongfully charged for a mistake that wasn’t ours. We have spent many years supporting this restaurant and recommending it to others. That will no longer be the case.
This was a clear failure in customer service. The correct approach would have been to apologize for the confusion, remove the charge, and move on. Instead, we were embarrassed, accused of dishonesty, and treated with disrespect.
We were seated in the back area of the restaurant on May 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:40 PM. I do not recall the manager’s name, but I urge you to review who was on duty and speak with her about how this was handled. Her behavior tonight was deeply disappointing and unprofessional.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you will take the appropriate steps to ensure no other guests are treated this way in the future.I would also like to note that the cheese that I originally ordered was also...
Read moreHaving traveled frequently for business, I've been in many restaurants ranging from cheap and mediocre to expensive and fine. I realize American Fork isn't a hub for fine dining, and I'm taking that into account. The seating is a little cramped between the tables, I'd recommend going for a booth. The complimentary chips and salsa are decent, though neither are made in house. During our visit, the service was slow, despite a less than full dining area. Given all of this I didn't have high hopes that the food would stand out. However, it was surprisingly good. The menu has a lot of variety and all of our sounds delicious. I had the carne asada platter with 3 flour tortillas. It was brought out with two. I indicated my meal comes with three, and her repeated he brought two out and did I want any more. I said yes, I wanted the three as described in the menu. I got two more, which I was cool with. My carne asada was tasty, as were the refried beans and rice. My wife got their beef supreme (movie reference!) burrito platter. My sons got cheese pizza/fries (sadly, no surprise there). My daughter was adventurous and got the carne asada tacos platter. The food was definitely the highlight of the visit, and is the only reason I'm giving for stars instead of two or three. If I come here again (and I might), I'll come with expectations adjusted and get a booth and the carne asada burrito platter. Main complaint is lackluster service, main praise is decent Mexican food. Dinner for 5 was about $80...
Read more¡Ándale, ándale, arriba! Let me tell you, amigos, Mi Ranchito in American Fork is más rápido and más delicioso than you can imagine! I ran in, and before I could even say "¡Hola!", I was hit with the smell of the best Mexican food this side of the border. ¡Ay caramba!
First off, the chips and salsa came out faster than me on my best day! The chips were so crispy, they crunched faster than my feet on the ground, and the salsa? Spicy enough to give you a little zip but not too hot, so you won’t need to run to the water like my cousin.
Now, let’s talk about the food. I ordered the enchiladas, the tacos, and, of course, the carne asada—all of it came out in a flash! The enchiladas were so cheesy and saucy, I almost slowed down just to enjoy every bite. The tacos? ¡Ay, ay, ay! They were packed with flavor, and the carne asada? It was so tender, I thought it might run off the plate, but no one’s faster than me, so I caught it!
And the portions, amigos—¡gigante! Even I couldn’t finish it all. I had to take some home, but no problema, it just means more for later when I’m zooming around and need a snack.
So, if you’re in American Fork and want food that’s fast and flavorful, you’ve gotta get to Mi Ranchito.
¡Arriba, arriba! Five stars for food so good, it'll make you run...
