Frustrated with the AF Librarians? I used to be as well until a friend pointed out the library’s diversity employment program in which they prioritize hiring Special Needs individuals. Suddenly everything came into perspective and what I perceived to be poor behavior from the majority of the employees was really just learning disabilities. I now feel terrible for my frustration toward handicaps and applaud the city for providing opportunities for challenged individuals who otherwise wouldn’t be able to find employment. Take all the other negative reviews with a grain of salt as they likely made the same mistake I did initially. The library its self is clean and orderly. I particularly like the children’s section where kids have an opportunity to explore reading in a fun environment. The massive canvas artwork they recently affixed to the exterior is an affront to the community but the sun’s radiation should make quick work of discoloring and degrading the polymer material to the point that it will be removed. All in all, a good place to visit and...
Read moreEvery time I come here, it's like the librarian has nothing to do but walk around a pester the lowly 3-4 people in cubicles that are studying. I mean seriously, a bottle water in the corner of the cubicle...is that really bothering and ruining your whole library. She is rude when you print documents out from the computer...just unfriendly to the max. I don't get it. It's not like this is a super new, nice, busy library. It's a local community library, how about being nice to the patrons so more people would feel welcome. When I was here a few weeks ago, I was checking a text on my phone and she walked over to my cubicle and told me I couldn't use my phone...I wasn't talking on it, no sound or anything...completely bizarre. But do I complain about children running up and down isles or babies crying in the stroller when a mom is looking for a book, no...I mean seriously, give people a break and...
Read moreThey have a nice selection of books, computers and printers available but we use them most often for their childrens section. They have nice little areas set up around the book stacks for kids to sit and read, play at a mock theater, play kitchen, and kits and toys they can use. There is a great section for coloring and crafts that has plenty of chairs and tables.
We attend bouncing babies twice a week and Miss Kathleen is an absolute gem. She is kind and matronly and is great at putting the kids at ease. She runs a wonderful program that engages the kids in several ways and my 1 and 3 year old adore it.
The library always has several programs running and something for all ages. They epitomize the idea of a community gathering place and I am so grateful for everyone who helps make...
