My family and I went to Whistle Wok on a Saturday evening during early dinner service, these are a few thoughts on the visit.
General Unless your a local, its easy to look over or pass by this restaurant Served Coke products, had other options except for Pepsi Great for couples, families, and small groups In the hour we were there, there was a constant flow of customers mostly picking up or taking out, shows there's good community support and that they're doing something right to fend off the big-box competitors
Pros There was a good selection of familiar Chinese entrees to choose from It was easy to order and build the plate how you wanted The flavors and quality of the food were surprisingly good for the price The food was fresh, well cooked, and being consistently restocked Tables, chairs, and floors were clean and clear of clutter, attentive staff Bathroom was clean, you could tell there was an effort to remove graffiti The general ambiance was welcoming and safe to stay and eat
Cons The interior was dated, paint and pictures need a good update If you weren't paying a attention, the train decor might throw you off Minimal staff-to-customer interaction, some people like that Parking lot is tight and needs repair, however there's always a spot It was unfortunate to see a large model train track that did not have a working set of trains running on it, it would have definitely added to the aesthetic and been a cool conversation starter
Overall I will be returning in the future and definitely would suggest this location for those looking for a restaurant that is welcoming and serving Chinese food that is familiar, flavorful,...
Read moreMy experience here was awful. The service going in was rather stale, but I knew it was the beginning hours of lunch so they werent too busy. My best friend and I went there to have take-out and got the food, I got the fried ham rice abd double orange chicken, my friend had the lomeign noodles (forgive my spelling) and a garlic mushroom stir-fry. We got back to my friends house and I wanted to start with the rice and I found three hairs in it. I mean come on food buisness 101- wear a dang har or hairnet even if you work the regester. I worked at both a deli, and a bakery where that was the number one rule.
I couldnt even eat the rice because oc the hair I found in it. I was hesitant to even eat the chicken because of what I found. Luckily my friend didnt have the problem. But the worst part was that we called to have a refund cause I couldnt really eat anything and they kept asking to repeat the question five times and eventually they heard it and said we would have to go in to get a refund. I get that for cash but cards? You can easily do that over the phone. But I'm not here to crash on others experiences or for those looking to try the food here. I say enjoy it, cause your experience could be very...
Read moreI like Whistle Wok, it still provides plenty of food for the price. It has good staple chinese food items, but not a large selection. They do give you more food than that other ahemPanda* place and for less money, sometimes just as good, too. It is good, and I like their sesame chicken and cashew chicken better than most other places. We usually get the 3 item take out, but if you're inclined to dine-in, go for it. I also get a small side of noodles extra, and that helps boost the meal into a lunch for the next day. So, that's like 2 meals for the price you'd pay for one elsewhere. I give this place 3-4 ☆'s (stars) for the food, and 5 stars for the value. After what seems to be forever of going here, I think the cute chinese lady finally may have retired. My don't know, but I miss her, she was friendly and generous, and always took good care of me. I hope the new people I see there now will realise that the qualities that made Whistle Wok successful all these years should continue to be strived for, and...
