Of the many pizza restaurants I've been to, I'd probably say this is my favorite place for a pizza buffet, especially when you have a good crowd at Roman Oven. I recall spending many a Friday evening after work coming down from Andersonville and stopping for the pizza buffet at the Roman Oven. As with any buffet, the busier the restaurant, the better the food and when Roman Oven has a good crowd you get to enjoy some of the best pizza in the southwestern part of the state. You have your usual fare for toppings, actual dessert pizzas and decent breadsticks, then maybe, just maybe you run into the Smokey Joe, a pizza that has actually summer-style sausage on the pizza. They also have some really good wings here as well. My favorite sauce was the "Off the Chain." It's their hottest sauce, but its still flavorful and not so much into the pure spice burn territory. Their wings also have a good portion of meat on the bone as well so you're definitely not getting left out on the size of the wings. Also, I don't know if they still run this, but if you pay a little more for your fountain drink, you get to have a cup that you can keep and take home with you. And it's a "Keeper." I still have a few of these cups years later out here in the Beehive state. I imagine if I showed one of them that's still in good shape my coworkers might not believe me I've had them for 10 years. And one last tip, unless the dressing on the salad bar has changed, I recommend mixing the ranch and bleu cheese dressings together as it seems to make the dressing work better. While my review may be based on visits from a while ago, this is definitely the place in Americus you want to stop if you're craving pizza. Skip the chains and come on a busy evening for a...
Read moreSo a few months ago, my guy and I ordered a pizza and some fries for delivery from this place. It was a busy night, I can't remember why, but our food came late and cold. We had ordered once here before (just moved to town) and we knew that the food, when hot, was really good. We called the restaurant after our food was dropped off and were able to speak to a manager and explain why we were dissatisfied. She was super nice and gave us a credit for a free meal.
Fast forward to about 5 minutes ago when we remembered we never redeemed the coupon for the redemption pizza and fries. I called and spoke to a very sweet lady on the phone who listened to my drawn out cold pizza story. She spoke with her manager and after 3 months, they STILL honored the credit (not their policy). Pizza and fries are on the way as I type! Yes... they are even delivering AGAIN. Impressive.
Kudos to you ROMAN OVEN of Americus, for being a stand up small business, staying true to your word and making the best pizza in town. I will be paying for many more meals from the OVEN in the future, especially after this AMAAAZing customer service...
Read moreWe drove from Cordele for the purpose of trying this spot for the 1st time We came in around 7:30 but knew we had limited time to be there since they closed at 9 BUT it should have been explained to us that the ovens were being turned off at 8 thus no more pizza would be coming out nor could we request a pizza with different toppings that were on the buffet line, we would have understood and ordered something as opposed to paying for the buffet OR would have taken the whole cheese and beef pie that we requested as opposed to getting 2 slices of each. What we had tasted good but not no $27 for four slices good. I must confess that $27 for a buffet for 2 people is a good price when you consider salad and drink are included but only if you can get to eat more than 2 slices each. LOL We were greatly disappointed that it wasn't explained to us about the kitchen shutting down at 8 which ruined our experience and thoughts about the...
