Blue Fish Hawaii Poke Bowl — Restaurant in Ames

The female owner is extremely rude. She acted like I was an idiot for saying I wanted to substitute one protein for another due to an allergy in the Hawaiian bowl. She told me I had to do create your own. I said ok since I can’t substitute can you just take the shrimp out. She looked at me and shook her head, went to the back room and started yelling. Her husband came out who is very kind and began making my bowl for me and said its fine. The woman came back out and was trying to take over and tried to change her mind, and was trying to give me raw salmon when I told her I wanted the cooked salmon as im pregnant. She got mad again and went to the back yelling, and her husband tried to explain to her im pregnant. She didnt care and kept yelling and went to the back. I was considering leaving at this point it was so unprofessional and rude, and i have been a long time loyal customer until now. We get to the pay station and she comes back out (must have thought I paid already and was waiting to do come yell at me thinking I paid) she comes back out and says in perfect english (after acting like she didnt understand me before or that im pregnant) says, we will never do this for you again. No substitutions, no changing anything. You get whats on the menu. (All of this over me wanting to take shrimp off the hawaii bowl due to allergy). And said “everyone always wants to change everything change change. No more changing ever again”. I said, you work in food service that’s what people do is make changes to their very expensive poke bowl theyre paying for. They also have a create your own bowl option so maybe dont have that if it bothers you so much if you can’t cater to people with allergies or pregnant women. I told them nevermind, i no longer want it and walked out without my bowl. I hope losing a long time customer and being greedy and rude (probably wanting to force me to do a create your own for the extra 2-4$) was worth having to throw a whole bowl of product away and losing a loyal customer who used to say nothing but good things...

Oh boy, where do I start with this poke restaurant? Let me just say, if you're looking for an uneventful and bland dining experience, then this is not the place for you. No, no, no, this is the place for those who are willing to take risks and try new things...like poke bowls.

Now, I must admit, this was my first time trying a poke bowl, and wow, what a life-changing experience it was! I mean, who knew that raw fish and rice could be combined in such a way that would leave my taste buds questioning all previous food choices I've ever made? And this particular restaurant? Hands down, the best poke bowl I've ever had! In fact, it was so good that I had to give it an 11.4 out of 10. That's right, it's off the charts!

So if you're looking for a restaurant that will push your culinary boundaries and leave you questioning your existence, then this poke place is the one for you....

BEST BEST Place for sushi with rice and alot of variety i had so far in ames. That also include for wasabi and hyvee sushi. The reason why i gave this a 3 star is because the Lady is such a cheapSKATE. When i had the male owner, he always try his best and gave us stuff or put sauce on the rice before topping. But the lady doesnt seem to care, since she only gave you the portion she think is enough. I had spicy tuna, and she was making new but when making it new she COUNT each piece rather than counting by scope which the male owner did. Partner and i didnt like the food she make even though it same stuff. Dont know why, Next time we would ask for the male owner who like...
