The Harp Irish Pub — Restaurant in Amherst

ah...me laddies....this so called "Harp" is the old Mikes Westview from me college days at UMass. That was nearly 20 yrs ago....the place looks exactly the same. Are the small chalkboards still hanging? My brother made them. the deck is new. Nice touch, it would have made millions back then...but you could not have controlled the under age drinkers. hell, ya couldn't do it then either...bless you! the missing tiles on the floor made me LOL. they were missing in 1993! the pool tables...I ran them every thursday, fri, sat..or my close friends did..jeff dilling and Ronny, Dancing Frank, Dee and his gal, Joe and also Colleen and her married-ish lawyer "friend"....and those two local blondes...one was a doll...sweet as pie...Cindy....and her cohort, was like a thin Nancy Grace and a good pool shot. sorry I ran the table on you...you were good.

Oh...so anywho...have fun! it's a great place. Very memorable! ...

Just stopped in with a friend for a couple of beers. Didn't order food so I can't comment on that but the menu looked good with a variety of items one would expect at an Irish Pub. The server was prompt, polite, attentive and unintrusive, all excellent qualities I don't care servers that hover or you can't get their attention. Sadly I don't recall her name. I spoke with Ted the owner outside when I was leaving he was very friendly and an easy conversationalist and invited me back in a warm way that makes me want to return soon and to sample their food because as I said the menu did look good. The music playing in the back ground was not so loud that my friend and I who both have a degree of hearing loss were able to hear eachother speaking at normal levels. I was also classic rock of the Era I came of age in, again a reason to return. Which...

Tommy's food is over the top good. The best tasting and we'll prepared food I've ever had at a restaurant hands down. His food is better than even the most high end restaurant food. The dishes are unique and have lots of love put into his food (you can tell when someone loves to cook, vs having to cook because it's there job). You will see the quality right away when you taste his food. From the outside, you would never know what's in store for you inside. Friendly clients and staff. This is not the place that you walk in and feel like all the usuals are the only ones that matter. You will feel at home and accepted just like everyone there.

The daily specials are great, and change almost daily (some go for several days as they are a hit)
