Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Andalusia

If you're thinking of eating or even working here - don't. If it were possible to leave 0 stars I would, but alas.

As a customer, the amount of health department violations is horrendous. They have a severe problem with flies, they're everywhere. They're always in the food. Meat is left out in the open on counters for hours with flies landing on it at whim. Nearly no hand washing occurs, and you're lucky if the blender to make your smoothie has actually been washed and not just rinsed out after the last person, which is why you often taste other flavors in a drink that should not have that flavor.

As an employee, the work environment and management is awful. The turnover rate is very high, which becomes obvious if you spend more than 3 days working here. There is no communication between employees and managers unless you screw something up, and then you get a good tongue-lashing and are belittled for it whether it was your fault or not. Managers are rude and unprofessional, and the owner ignores it. Employees are provided with little to no training and are expected to miraculously know everything as soon as they step foot in the store. Managers are not in anyway helpful or willing to train and answer questions. You are working for minimum wage with no breaks or benefits, all while being constantly criticized. There are plenty of other minimum wage jobs available where you will be treated as an individual with respect, so spare yourself the experience of trying to work here.

If you’re working the register, the script is simple:

👉 Smile. 👉 Say “Good morning” or “Hi, how are you?” 👉 THEN stare.

Because let me tell you — the silent stare is NOT customer service, it’s a staring contest. And I didn’t sign up for the Hunger Games at Tropical Smoothie.

These kids are NOT taught customer service. This girl in Tropical Smoothie came to the register and just looked at me. She couldn't even speak when I said good morning. Delivered my smoothie to the table without speaking. I raised my hand to take the straw and she avoided handing it to me, deliberately pulled back so she could set it on the table. 🙄

It's not her entire personality because I heard her talking and laughing with her coworker.

At least the girl who brought my wrap was pleasant.

I eat here all the time and this was the absolute worst service I have ever had. I only get an hour lunch break so I go before they get busy. We were, at the time, the only 2 people in there. I order my food and sit down. People start coming in and it gets busy. Understandable. They bring a tiny bag to our table. It's missing my sandwich. 15 minutes later I hear then say "I need a chipotle"......are you kidding me?? Another 5 minutes "Where did that Chipotle go". Another 15 minutes I get up and go to the counter because now I'm late. I finally get my sandwich. I come in there all the time I do...
