I ordered a brisket baked potato while in Andalusia with my fiancé who was in the hospital all week. I ordered wings that were under cooked and a baked brisket baked potato with extra sour cream and extra cheese. I got to the hospital and the potato was pull pork ! I wasnt even extra anything that I had paid for. I called and let them know that my order was wrong and it was raining bad out there. I have Lupus and I couldn’t afford to get sick right now . I was told I could come back and get a potato to replace that one. I said ok. The next day I get call from the girl that took my ordered and said they can’t accommodate me and basically I’m lying and we checked the ordered with me ! She flat out LIED ! I was so upset ! I was already having a rough day and here you are saying I’m lying knowing darn well we did not check the food. I said you know what I didn’t even bring up the undercooked wings but now I would like to speak to a manager. I wanted a full refund at this point. Y’all she said the manager had left. So I said I would come by then and bring them wings back bc they were still at the hospital in the fridge. I didn’t get back from Montgomery in time so I called today. Guess what it’s 1pm and she saying the manager isn’t there they leave at 12 which is odd too me bc why the manager never there ? She asked me to leave my number so that the manager could call back and y’all here comes the host come calling apologizing saying they are going to honor what they originally said and give me the potato. At this point I don’t even want it and will never eat there again. That was my 2nd time eating there in one week and had been looking for a good bbq spot, I thought I had found one. So glad the nurses and etc saw how I was treated also and said they are disquised also. Responding to Owner: I came on 12/6 and 12/9 this is two different times ! How was it a week ago from when I called? Yes I did hang up bc I didn’t appreciate basically being called a liar. She did not check my plate at all. Why not check your cameras? I was not worried about the food but appreciated the gesture it was the call back the next day with the nasty attitude that upset me. She called me saying she could not honor the potato bc she checked my food and she did not ! You need to check your cameras of 12/9! She basically called me a liar and I have receipts so how are yall saying it was a week that passed ? You as the owner should have reached out to me but didn’t but came to write under a review that’s crazy. I called time I got to the hospital and sat down to eat. I added a screenshot of the day I ordered. How is that a week later ? I’m owed an apology. I also have a pic of the chicken. The point is mistakes happen the problem came in with how y’all are handling it and lying at that. You as an owner didn’t even contact me about the issue even after I asked to speak with you for 2 days. You were out 2 days ? I think the way I looked when I came in gave y’all the impression that I needed a hand out or something which is not the case. I did wanted to bring the potato back bc it’s expensive and I do not eat pork. I was not worried about the wings bc the potato I had a couple of days before that was good it was what I really wanted! I was just trying the wings bc they were suggested. It’s all good. That’s not how you conduct business or treat people. Also I called time I got to the hospital and sat down to eat.

**Restaurant Review: Golden Rule Barbecue, Andalusia, Alabama** Golden Rule Barbecue in Andalusia, Alabama, left us questioning how this place remains in business. The quality of the food was shockingly poor, and it was evident that little, if anything, is cooked in-house. Starting with the brisket—or what was supposed to be brisket—it was nothing more than thinly sliced roast beef, clearly cut on a slicing machine. It lacked the tenderness and rich flavor that you’d expect from properly smoked brisket. This was a major letdown for any barbecue lover. The ribs were even worse. They had a consistency that was almost like dog food, mushy and unappetizing. In fact, I wouldn’t feel comfortable feeding them to my dogs, let alone serving them to guests. The sides didn’t fare much better. The coleslaw tasted straight out of a container, with no freshness or zest. The beans, surprisingly, were the best thing we tried, but that’s not saying much. They too seemed pre-made, but at least they had some semblance of flavor. Overall, Golden Rule Barbecue is a place to avoid. With food that seems mass-produced and a clear lack of care in preparation, it’s hard to understand how they keep their doors open. If you’re looking for authentic barbecue in Andalusia, you’d do well to look elsewhere.

As someone originally from West Texas who loves a good Texas-style beef barbecue, it's hard for me to find satisfying brisket outside of the Lone Star State. That's why I was pleasantly surprised by the brisket at Golden Rule BBQ & Grill in Andalusia. While it's not quite on par with the melt-in-your-mouth brisket back home, Golden Rule's beef brisket was still smoky, tender and flavorful. It had a nice bark on the outside while the interior was moist - a difficult balance to achieve with brisket. The sauce also had a pleasing tanginess that complemented the meat well without overpowering it. In addition to satisfactory brisket, Golden Rule offers ribs, pulled pork, chicken and sausage links rounding out your classic barbecue joint menu. Prices are on the high side but the generous portions make up for it. The atmosphere is clean and welcoming. Servers are friendly and eager to make recommendations if you're having trouble deciding. Golden Rule BBQ may not beat out my favorite joint back in Texas, but it's about as good as you can expect to find outside the Lone Star borders. If you're jonesing for a taste of tender brisket and tangy sauce, Golden Rule is your best bet in the Andalusia area. It's a taste of Texas right here in Alabama.

This is only the second time I've been here, the first being within the first few days they were open. We shan't speak of that visit and focus exclusively on this one.

My wife and I came here for lunch after I picked her up from work. She loves a good Philly Cheese Steak sandwich so that's what she ordered. I went with one of the daily specials, the pork barbecue plate with one side. I took fries.

We didn't have to wait too long for our food which arrived HOT!. The fries are kind of big and thick like steak fries, but are seasoned with something that tasted familiar, but I just couldn't place it. Whatever it was, it was very good! I then asked about the two different barbecue sauces and was told that the one with the label was sweet and the other was original. Then she told me there was a 3rd option, but they don't put it on the tables - a spicy sauce. That is what I'd hoped to hear!

I deluged my pulled pork with it and started eating. There was no heat behind the sauce whatsoever. None. But it was tasty if not a bit too sweet for my tastes. I continued to eat.

Then I got about halfway through my meal and realized my freaking head was sweating! Somehow that sauce completely snuck up on me! There didn't seem to be a flavor difference, but the very subtle spice was a delightful surprise. I cleaned my entire plate!

I forgot to mention what I had to drink, but if you've read any of my other reviews, you already know. Sweet iced tea. That's right.

Anyway this visit was so much better than my first and I am rather looking forward to...
