Passed this place up so many times and finally stopped in. The restaurant is very clean with an inviting interior, add the amazing customer service and there is not much els that is needed. Except great food, which they have in abundance. All their items are made from scratch daily. The chips are your normal fair with a fresh salsa that is pretty good. A bit more cilantro and a squeeze of lime would make it perfect.
Entrees :
#17 Taquitos Plate - 8/10 5 delicious small taquitos with your choice of pastor, beef, or tripa served with avocado, seasoned grilled onions, fresh onions, cilantro, and charro beans. I went with the pastor and it was great, a little sweetness with all of the expected flavors of a good pastor. The charro beans had a very nice taste as well, a bit different than most but really good.
#3 Picadillo Con Papas. - 8/10 Ground beef and diced potatoes seasoned with Mexican spices, served with rice and beans. Very well put together, the meat had a very good flavor, can't place my finger on it but a good flavor non the less. The rice and beans were both really good as well. Served with corn or flour tortillas.
#25 Burrito Don Jose. - 8/10 Beef or chicken fajita, cheese, and guacamole wrapped in a flour tortillas, topped with red sauce and queso. I had the chicken fajita in this one, the chicken was super moist and tender. The guacamole adds a nice touch to the burrito. I had a couple items included not on the menus description, sour cream and lettuce. It just added a broader range of flavors that accented the rest. The red sauce has a unique flavor that I haven't had anywhere else, paired with the queso makes this burrito a must have.
One thing is for sure , they take pride in making fresh food that is their own. Great flavors, atmosphere, and phenomenal customer service makes Don...
ย ย ย Read moreDisappointed but not entirely bad. My first disappointed was that they did not carry horchata. Bummer. Then the jamaica I ordered was bland. Then, the menu only had breakfast burritos not tacos. Oh...K I went ahead and ordered chilaquiles verdes (9.99). They used that creamy wanna be avocado creamy sauce instead of green salsa. It looked and tasted like fettuccine poblano Alfredo instead of chilaquiles. Which I do like fettuccine with poblano sauce but not for breakfast. Pros: their menudo is one of the best around here. They make homemade corn and flour tortillas. Please note that they taste good right there and then. If you take them home they are hard. Now their refried beans are pretty good. They do taste like they are being served in grandma's house in Mexico. I'm also happy they use queso fresco instead of monterrey cheese.
I was going to try them for lunch. But 3 beef tacos for 13.99 made me change my mind. Especially if they don't have tomatillo salsa.

ย ย ย Read moreThis was a second visit to Don Jose restaurant. The salsa and chips were pretty good; it's served warm with a good heat "bite" to it. Entrees seem to be scratch made, always a plus. My wife had a Poblano Enchilada plate that she liked. I had the Diablo Burrito, but it didn't have the "heat" I was expecting and wanting ๐. We have eaten here twice now, covering four different plates. While the food is decent, it is not really spicy or highly seasoned; I made ample use of the salt, pepper, and salsa ๐. Service was professional and the dining area was clean ๐and not overly cramped. If you have not tried Don Jose restaurant or just haven't been in a while, give them a try. You may find it a place you can add to your list of of preferred...
