Just not what it used to be. I"m a local and remember when both sides of the Smithart's factions had really good places to eat. Unfortunately this location just seems to slide further and further downhill. We ate there last Sunday after church - got there around 11:30. We were seated promptly, the restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. 5 years ago there would have been a 15 minute wait to get a table.
The waitress was fine, came to the table in a timely manner. I ordered ice water with lemon - when my drink was brought out I was informed that the restaurant was out of lemons. Some BS excuse about how expensive lemons are was given. I ordered a burger, because that is what Smithart's was built on - burgers. A few minutes later the waitress came out and informed the that they were out of hamburger buns. THIS IS A BURGER JOINT! How do you let yourself run out of buns, especially at 11:30 on a Sunday morning when the church crowd is about to hit? Burger came on Texas Toast, and was just OK - patty was overworked and didn't have much for seasoning. The onion rings, which have always been good here, were obviously a frozen Cisco type instead of the hand made ones they used to have. Under cooked to boot. Not good at all.
The bathrooms were filthy as well. Trash in the stall was full, trash by the sink was full, toilet paper on the floor and the toilet needed a pressure washer. It's obvious they didn't even clean up from the previous night. I'm a dude and when I notice the bathrooms, that tells you something. Buc-Ee's is about a mile down the road, go there to see what a good clean public restroom should be.
Bottom line - it's unfortunate because it used to be a good place to eat, but I can't say much about it anymore. Angleton doesn't have a whole lot of choices for dining as it is and it seems like one less now. The owners of this restaurant have a lot of ground to make up and need to get their act and QC together. I'll be surprised if they are around in another year at this rate.
This isn't against the staff - I have no doubt they do the best they can with what they have to work with and how...
Read moreMy family and I came in and had a horrible experience. Our waitress I wish I knew her name I guess I will have to describe her. She had curly dark hair pulled up in a messy bun, wore all black except for her gray tennis shoes, and she was a little under average height for a woman. Anyways, we were seated close to the bar and we sat there with no service for at least 10 minutes, we finally ordered our drinks and the took a while to get, we ordered our food and it took about 15 minutes to get it, and when we finally got our food is was cold, had no flavor except the ranch and crackers had flavor, and my father asked for a refill and we waited about 20 minutes and he never received his refill of coke. And the restaurant was not busy at all. I am very dissatisfied with the service and I would like something to be done about it. The cashier didn't even ask how everything was. she asked are you wanting to pay? Ummm, no I just thought I would stand here and look pretty. I do NOT recommend this place at all!

Well our waitress Sydney was horrible. We walked in and she asked how many I said 5 and she grabbed 4 menus and started walking off and didn't say anything. We got to the table she threw the menus down and walked off and then came back for our drinks. She didn't get our drinks right or our food. And then she asked if we wanted refills and my sister said yes. It took about 20 minutes for her to get a refill. And it was not busy at all. There service sucks. I don't recommend this place at all. I dont think the even...
Read moreDon’t go here My husband and I came in around 2pm. When we walked in, the girl at the register didn’t acknowledge us and a smell hits you. The smell isn’t delicious food but like an old house. A girl came to get us and took us to a table by the bar. She went and sat down at a table behind us. Our waitress then got up from that table to greet us. She was nice but that’s where the good ends. Both our drinks were gross, (water and Diet Coke) she did exchange mine for sweet tea and it was fresh. My husband enjoyed his burger but my food wasn’t as good. My soup was hot, but the chicken tough and not seasoned. I asked for a side of crawfish etoufee. I was brought out a plate of etoufee. I was kinda confused but took it. The food was luke warm and smelled fishy. I didn’t eat it. Our waitress returned to the table behind us to talk to the other girl (the one that seated us) and some guy named Jerry. I know this because they were talking loud and I could hear everything. Our waitress let us and the table beside us run out of drinks and didn’t check on us until the couple from the table beside us stood up because they were tired of waiting. After that, the waitress came back and we finally got our check. I was charged for an entree of crawfish etoufee. She changed it but I was still charged more than the $6.95 I had seen on the menu. I will never eat here again. I felt unwelcome, ignored and the food was subpar,...
