Just not what it used to be. I"m a local and remember when both sides of the Smithart's factions had really good places to eat. Unfortunately this location just seems to slide further and further downhill. We ate there last Sunday after church - got there around 11:30. We were seated promptly, the restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. 5 years ago there would have been a 15 minute wait to get a table.

The waitress was fine, came to the table in a timely manner. I ordered ice water with lemon - when my drink was brought out I was informed that the restaurant was out of lemons. Some BS excuse about how expensive lemons are was given. I ordered a burger, because that is what Smithart's was built on - burgers. A few minutes later the waitress came out and informed the that they were out of hamburger buns. THIS IS A BURGER JOINT! How do you let yourself run out of buns, especially at 11:30 on a Sunday morning when the church crowd is about to hit? Burger came on Texas Toast, and was just OK - patty was overworked and didn't have much for seasoning. The onion rings, which have always been good here, were obviously a frozen Cisco type instead of the hand made ones they used to have. Under cooked to boot. Not good at all.

The bathrooms were filthy as well. Trash in the stall was full, trash by the sink was full, toilet paper on the floor and the toilet needed a pressure washer. It's obvious they didn't even clean up from the previous night. I'm a dude and when I notice the bathrooms, that tells you something. Buc-Ee's is about a mile down the road, go there to see what a good clean public restroom should be.

Bottom line - it's unfortunate because it used to be a good place to eat, but I can't say much about it anymore. Angleton doesn't have a whole lot of choices for dining as it is and it seems like one less now. The owners of this restaurant have a lot of ground to make up and need to get their act and QC together. I'll be surprised if they are around in another year at this rate.

This isn't against the staff - I have no doubt they do the best they can with what they have to work with and how...

My family and I came in and had a horrible experience. Our waitress I wish I knew her name I guess I will have to describe her. She had curly dark hair pulled up in a messy bun, wore all black except for her gray tennis shoes, and she was a little under average height for a woman. Anyways, we were seated close to the bar and we sat there with no service for at least 10 minutes, we finally ordered our drinks and the took a while to get, we ordered our food and it took about 15 minutes to get it, and when we finally got our food is was cold, had no flavor except the ranch and crackers had flavor, and my father asked for a refill and we waited about 20 minutes and he never received his refill of coke. And the restaurant was not busy at all. I am very dissatisfied with the service and I would like something to be done about it. The cashier didn't even ask how everything was. she asked are you wanting to pay? Ummm, no I just thought I would stand here and look pretty. I do NOT recommend this place at all!

Well our waitress Sydney was horrible. We walked in and she asked how many I said 5 and she grabbed 4 menus and started walking off and didn't say anything. We got to the table she threw the menus down and walked off and then came back for our drinks. She didn't get our drinks right or our food. And then she asked if we wanted refills and my sister said yes. It took about 20 minutes for her to get a refill. And it was not busy at all. There service sucks. I don't recommend this place at all. I dont think the even...

Don’t go here My husband and I came in around 2pm. When we walked in, the girl at the register didn’t acknowledge us and a smell hits you. The smell isn’t delicious food but like an old house. A girl came to get us and took us to a table by the bar. She went and sat down at a table behind us. Our waitress then got up from that table to greet us. She was nice but that’s where the good ends. Both our drinks were gross, (water and Diet Coke) she did exchange mine for sweet tea and it was fresh. My husband enjoyed his burger but my food wasn’t as good. My soup was hot, but the chicken tough and not seasoned. I asked for a side of crawfish etoufee. I was brought out a plate of etoufee. I was kinda confused but took it. The food was luke warm and smelled fishy. I didn’t eat it. Our waitress returned to the table behind us to talk to the other girl (the one that seated us) and some guy named Jerry. I know this because they were talking loud and I could hear everything. Our waitress let us and the table beside us run out of drinks and didn’t check on us until the couple from the table beside us stood up because they were tired of waiting. After that, the waitress came back and we finally got our check. I was charged for an entree of crawfish etoufee. She changed it but I was still charged more than the $6.95 I had seen on the menu. I will never eat here again. I felt unwelcome, ignored and the food was subpar,...

Definetely this is a place for a hearty lunch/dinner. The place have high ceilings and country style decoration. Since you arrive the personal is friendly and they give you a table in no time. All the combined elements makes you feel comfy, specially if you are far from home. I had the famous chicken Barajas which is a chicken breast grilled and topped with a mixture of sautéed onion, tomato, bacon, cheese, jalapeños and cilantro (that is the Barajas sauce). It was full of flavor on every bite. This dish came with house salad, a potato as an option (fried, baked or mashed) and a veggie mix. Beers are not in the menu but I asked and they have some available. Food was so generous and unfortunately I had no room for desert. Maybe next time I will order a salad to try them. The menu has a variety of American food, and it is the perfect place for different cravings due to that I think this is a good place to go with family, people of all ages can find something attractive.

9/26/24 overall good experience... 4 in group ... burger... chicken sandwich and 2 salads.... service was good.... resturant not busy at all. Expensive and food is ok. Nothing great. Was probably best resturant in town 10yr ago. But not sure anything has changed since 2nd trip was better.. 1st trip was valentine's dinner. This trip was late lunch on a Saturday. Bacon blue burger and pasta was much better than 1st trip. Have gone back a few times and it's better. Every restaurant has a bad day... I'm guessing 1st trip was bad day Another trip... back to disappointed. Service was SLOW... took... 30-45 min for a burger and pasta. Burger was well done and raw all in one burger. Fries were not seasoned at all. Ordered sweet tea... for some reason they don't like ice... refilled my tea and melted my ice.

It's a cute place, nice decor, very clean and great service, but thats not enough to bring us back for a second time. My ribeye had a fridge/freezer taste to it. Wasn't a quality/flavorful cow even without the off taste. My husband's chicken fried steak and gravy was not very flavorful either, and It was a bit tough as well. The Texas toast on each plate was cold and soft no "toast" quality to it at all. The mixed veggies were nearly completely raw, especially the carrots. I had to assemble my baked potatoe and it wasn't even hot enough to melt the butter. The entire meal was a disappointment, especially after reading others great reviews, and coming here for lunch ON my husband's birthday. I can name several other local places with far better ribeyes and chicken fried steak. 😞
