The food was average, nothing overly spectacular. Cooked as requested and delivered in a timely manner. Our wait time was short, though the house was FULL.
My steak was cooked a little more to the well than the medium temp, as requested. Eggs were super yokey, as ordered. Hashbrowns were smooth and easy to enjoy with some ketchup, which is how I like them.
My daughter had the biggest biscuit of her life here, as well as a Belgian waffle, which she ate all of (she's 9). Another daughter got the pancakes, and those were too big for the plate and her belly. The eldest daughter got biscuits and gravy, and no crumbs were left behind. Hubby had the Ham and Cheese skillet special, and he too left full and satisfied.
As mentioned earlier, the house was packed. Staff were quick and efficient, but because they were so busy, they lacked friendliness and were nothing but business, which definitely made you feel as if you were a bother for them.
So, if you dine here and it's super busy, give your server some grace, and be kind enough to see the situation for what it is... lack of friendliness doesn't mean they aren't friendly. They are just a bit overwhelmed and need a moment. Unfortunately, they can...

Read moreThe Village Kitchen is typically a decent place to eat, whether it is for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. However, we decided to get their special of the day which was sloppy joe. It came with the sandwich, fries, and baked beans. I don’t know who decided that it would be a good idea to add vinegar to the sloppy joe and overpower the whole entire sandwich- it wasn’t, and it ruined the entire meal. Once you got a taste of the vinegar, it carried through everything. If this is how they make the food stretch, by adding things that don’t belong, I wouldn’t even recommend eating there. Luckily, we had ordered some pie and got that before the main course, because in reality- that was the ONLY thing fit to eat there yesterday. Be wary of the specials and stick to either breakfast or pie. This was truly a very disappointing experience and I can only hope that the owner sees this review and makes sure that vinegar is no longer a staple in sloppy...
