Cafe Diem has totally earned its reputation as a local gem! 🎶☕ Between the jazzy vibes, warm and welcoming service, and solid food lineup, it's the kind of place that makes you want to become a regular.

The Farmers Omelet is hearty and satisfying, packed with cheese and veggies—definitely a strong 5/5. Hash browns were tasty too, just would’ve been perfect if they were served a little hotter. Cappuccino had a nice cocoa note but could’ve been bolder for those who like a stronger brew. Muffin game? On point. That lemon poppyseed one sounds like a must-try.

What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere—cozy, artsy, and great for studying or just chilling out with a cup of their house-roasted coffee (and yes, the smell is everything when you walk in). Bonus points for offering a variety of milk...

I had the Farmers Omelet with a side of Hash Brown. The Omelet was of a healthy portion with plenty of cheese and veggies, I gave it a (5). The Hash Browns were also tasty but lost a point due to its food temperature which was a bit on the cold side (4). The Cappuccino was good with a slight cocoa finish, but it lacked strength which I found to bee on the lighter side compared to the traditional. (3). The Lemon Poppyseed Muffin was very tasty, moist and had a light lemon homestyle flavor. (5). Cafe Diem also has friendly loungelike areas for customers to study or browse their devices. I would recommend this place over the chain...

cafe diem is my favorite coffee shop that i've tried!! only thing that comes close was a coffee shop in colorado and portland. it's easy to tell that the espresso Cafe Diem uses is high quality, it really makes a difference in the taste!! their service is great, i've always had friendly interactions with the staff. my drink took a little longer to make one day and they upgraded the size of my drink as an apology (which was totally unnecessary but a good representation of how amazing this place is). i always stop by when im in ankeny!! best iced oatmilk...
