The Ornery Chicken — Restaurant in Ankeny

We ordered this food tonight for delivery and were shocked when we opened our boxes. I ordered boneless "wings" for my son. The BBQ sauce was sickly sweet and the "wings" themselves were hardly bigger than my thumbnail. When I tell you these were tiny I do mean tiny. My Little Pluckers were flat as a crepe and had one crusty sweep of sauce. Yes. Crusty. The buffalo sauce was HARDENED onto the top, the other side of my chicken had no sauce. I took a bite against my better judgement and the chicken was so dry. Then, I tried my "baked potato salad". There was zero warning it would be warm and mushy and I spit it right back out. It was disgusting! I really hope my family doesn't get food poisoning from this place. I'm really frustrated that they gave us food that was so bad we threw it all away and ate our own chicken nuggets from...

Food portions are excellent. Chicken was juicy and I really liked the sidewinder fries. Slightly disappointing that the sandwiches we ordered had maybe a tablespoon of coleslaw on them. And if there was any spicy mayo at all, it was not enough to notice or taste. I like the idea of a virtual kitchen, however, anyone who is familiar with fried foods knows that they don't hold up (or stay crispy) for long, especially when transported in a container to eat 10-15 minutes later. If you did want to truly showcase this style of food in the best way, a sit-down restaurant would be the way to go. Or possibly even a spot at the state fair, or a food truck. Just food...

Ha this pun is intended. I have been a customer since you guys started. The Nashville Hot has/was my favorite.

If this is the new normal count me as one of the dissatisfied customers that will not be picking up or having it delivered again.

First time I had the sandwich the heat was there loved it! Slowly it’s become just like any other chicken sandwich that you can pick up at Gas station. At least I expect the lameness from them.
