I have been coming here for nearly 20 years. Many a Saturday morning in my childhood contained a freshly oven warmed sample slice of nine grain, or honey whole weat, or asiago pesto, spread with butter and drizzled with honey, what a delight at any age! The service has always been with a smile, my grandpa being known as "grandpa nine grain" to the staff for his weekly order and the grandkids he always brought in tow. If any of the old staff are reading this, he is still kicking at 90, a great-grandpa nine grain now, and though he doesn't make his old rounds anymore he still gets nine grain brought to his house by a caring son. The bread is absolutely delicious and this is coming from one who has a passion for crust, something of which your creations are utterly devoid. The focus is on the crumb, and how! The recipe seems to have barely changed over the years. The cookies however, have fluctuated greatly. I dream of the oatmeal chocolate chip walnut cookies that we would cut into fours due to their great size. They shrunk and diminished in their course grain content, but of late seem to have regained some of the greatness of their former selves, and to that I say, keep up...
Read moreI ordered 6 Hot cross buns three weeks ago as my mother who is 87 loves them for Easter. I do this every year. I showed up at 2pm not realizing they closed at 2pm today. [The gal I ordered them three weeks ago from asked me when I would like to pick them up and I said early afternoon she never told me they close at 2pm on Saturday]. Anyways, I arrived to find the doors closing and the manager inside and I explained my situation and she said they give them away if no one picks up the order. I found this really unsensitive and uncaring. She did not offer me any other product for the inconvenience. It was clear her and her staff just wanted to close up shop. I also noticed they left 2 orders outside the door of folks who ordered stuff and had not picked it up as their names were on them. This is poor business. It is an Easter weekend and this place closes at 2pm and does not even have the decency to call me. They had my number as they asked for it during my order placement. They have lost...
Read moreOne day, I had lunch with a friend at the pho restaurant next to Great Harvest Bread Co., when we talked about it. I had been interested in the bakery but never had been there. She said she really liked it particularly because you can sample any bread they have on the day. So I went to Great Harvest Bread Co. after the lunch. As my friend said, I was offered samples. I tried farmhouse white, honey whole wheat, and cranberry orange. Everything tasted great, and the best part is, the sample size is very big. I recommend you to go there when you are hungry. :D I bought my first loaf of their bread that day, and I became a frequent customer since then. As they have different bread every day, there was always new surprise on my first couple of visits. Today, I brought my boyfriend and he really loved their bread, too. Highly highly recommended. I personally preferred Japanese bread and was never a big fan of American bread, but now I truly love Great Harvest Bread...
